Nose has hand crushed cherry over dry Fall leaves, fresh picked pint of red raspberry, red rose, cedar humidor and a touch of alcohol heat on the close, likely this will dissipate over the evening.
Palate has unreal, ridiculous amounts of acidity, fresh cherry, fresh red raspberry, black cherry mash and distant anise.
Unbelievable wine at 25 years young, tannins are strong, this will likely enjoy another 10-15 years with ease. I can't get over the immense finish, so long, acidity is blowing my mind at how much remains after a quarter century in bottle. This is one of 2991 bottles produced for the 1994 vintage, acquired directly from the winery. The cork was solid and very firm, no concerns.
Decanted about 8hr, that was the right amount but another 1-2hr will be fine for future bottles. Paired alongside a slow and low cooked Bolognese sauce over Pappardelle, with a couple hours of cook time more than this decant. — 19 days ago
Stunningly well made. Still has that balance and structure. Amazing acidity. It’s in a spot where I’d wait 5 years. In 10 years when alto is the more popular with the rich crowd this will be the bling. Bought from fass selections. ... after an hour the Nebbiolo spice kicks in. Wow. Very fragrant with bursts of cedar, dried flowers, cigar box. Classic Nebbiolo flavours, raspberry, earth, and with lot’s of structure. Hints of tea on the finish. Grippy tannins still after 10 years. — 5 days ago

A much darker color than I would have expected from a 52 year old wine. Powerful, youthful and complex aromas of plums and tobacco. At this point your mind is racing , can the palate equal or exceed the nose because you know if it can you are in for a treat. A very alive , acid driven palate of plums, cherries and tea. Had an old vine creaminess component. After approximately 2 hours the wine started to take on a less open personality. — a month ago
