Only rates this high after a couple of hours of opening. Super tight and barely aromatic upon opening. Eventually gets to a more traditional tar and roses Nebbiolo bouquet. Slight truffles, wet earth, and cherry in the mix. Fairly tannic after an hour open and eases up after two. — 9 days ago

Having this with a nice Brasato di Manzo. Lots of aged complexity. Nose has aged book library and mahogany scents, old leather, and deep cherry liqueur fruit underneath. Fruit is more prominent in the mouth, particularly with food. Very little tannin remains, and there is nice but gentle acidity. — 15 days ago

The 2019 Maggiorina is such an engaging wine. Dark and mysterious, with striking complexity, this Nebbiolo/Croatina-based field blend is an absolute winner. Wild black cherry, lavender, sage, menthol and dried herbs grace the Maggiorina with striking complexity and nuance. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2022)

Has a really marvelous feral element on the nose. Tar, tobacco, leather and the smells of not only herbs but dark, sweet and sour fruits; tamarind, stewed italian plums, molasses. On the palate is juicy black and red fruit, candied black raspberries. This is all carried in a very pure and precise way on the palate. — a month ago
Mazzoni's 2015 Ghemme Ai Livelli is gorgeous. Floral and savory notes infuse the bouquet with notable presence. Light on its feet, yet wonderfully layered, the 2015 is super expressive right out of the gate. There's quite a bit of complexity, while the tannins are nicely mellowed by time. That makes for an incredibly appealing wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2022)

2022/5/7 with roast pork with rosemary, garlic and mostarda di Cremona, fresh favas and pecorino, etc. Lots of lovely red fruit jumps out on the nose, followed by some woodsier, earthier notes. Juicy fruit and acidity balances subtle but firm tannins. The last glass is even better, with a fosses effusion of pungent, spicy berries and subtle floral notes. — 9 days ago
