Gorgeous, deeply terroir-driven nose of wet earth, wax, green herbs and green fruit, with a faint natural-wine wildness that adds complexity without sacrificing clarity. This is almost Silvaner made through a Burgundian lens, so focused on place, texture and mineral architecture rather than overt fruit. The palate is opening beautifully, becoming more complex as the acidity comes forward, with tremendous purity, juiciness, earthy minerality and a long, salty finish.

After an hour, I’d move this to 9.5, teasing 9.6. The big change is finesse. It has gone from mineral, earthy and architectural to something much more elegant and complete, with terrific sap, intense flavor concentration and a thunderous, salty finish. The wine is still almost entirely about terroir rather than fruit, but now the texture and acidity have knitted together so beautifully that it feels genuinely profound for an entry-level Silvaner. — 5 days ago

Almost 2 years since I’ve had this. What a wine. Gorgeous nose of herbal vegetables that are so so fresh. Dynamic mineralIty on the nose with also a hint of fat. Palate is elegant and mineral with wonderful juiciness and a haunting opulent yet undeniably fresh texture. Age has really helped this be fully expressive. Great balance and purity. — 7 years ago

Absolutely world-class white wine. The nose is pure and beautifully lifted, with clean limestone, subtle natural-world aromas and perfectly judged oak adding complexity without ever dominating. The palate is extraordinary: rich, saturating and powerful, yet tense, saline, nervous and completely precise. Tiny-berry fruit explosions emerge with air, framed by sweet mineral extract, tremendous grip, silky texture and unbelievable purity. Dense but never heavy, opulent but disciplined, with Grand Cru structure, refinement and a long, building, penetrating finish. This blows away an enormous amount of white Burgundy. Very exiting nose. Confectionery sugars, greens that are sweet, fiddlehead ferns, sugar snap peas, mineral and airy. Even a hint of saline. Palate is elegant, linear and focused. Juicy and clean.
