Founder & President, Northwest Wines Ltd. Established 1985. I only post wines I like.
Drinking quite well for a 30 year old from a media panned vintage. I should add that I’ve had a fair number of pleasurable experiences with aged 1995s. In fact, Domaine Serene’s 1995 from magnum last year was flat out great. Back in these days the Winemakers Cuvée was the entry level Panther Creek Pinot Noir. This one today is not at all tired by color, aroma, or taste. Blackberry fruit, firm fresh acidity, and resolved tannins. Has granular sediment poking three-fourths in that should be decanted off. My mistake but still enjoyable to the end. — a month ago
An intensely concentrated and vibrant QbA at 29 years. This magical half-dry Riesling reached deep into its steep Carthusian hill to pull out and offer its mineral laden complexity. — 4 days ago
2003 had no problem achieving BA ripeness yet did not experience much if any botrytis. Very yummy wine nonetheless. — 17 days ago
Golden meadow sunshine bubbling honeyed botrytis harmonized with ripe fruit acidity. — 22 days ago
Pronounced middle-Mosel terroir with 9% alcohol. At 28 years this estate Kabinett has shed all of its initial juiciness and replaced it with slate mineral earthiness and a firm handshake. — a month ago
My favorite rosés improve with aging. — 8 days ago
Here is an honest, clean, straightforward, FLX Cab Franc. No extra attributes but no extra price tag. Good expression of the grape in a cool climate. More Loire than Bordeaux or almost anything on the US West Coast. — 21 days ago
Full and peculiar captivating aromatics. I very rarely get vegetal aromas from Riesling but this one is loaded with them. First and foremost, ripe green bell peppers. On the palate it’s all upfront, delicious, yellow fruits and late summer sunshine. Second comes the flint and slate propelling the long, satisfying finish. — a month ago
