So ripe and big. Goes better with dessert than the meal. Huge vanilla oak with sweet berry jam, there is mint dark chocolate, and tannin, cedar on the finish. Overall when I really think about it, this tastes interesting, but there is a sweetness throughout the entire palate that I do not love. There’s an artificial sweetener like flavor. Really interesting. Decanted for 4 hours. — 13 days ago
Having my annual 2002 Penfolds Bin 389 - now 3 bottles left. Definitely a beautiful mature Cabernet Shiraz from this cool vintage. Has the Penfolds DNA of. Chocolate, Mocha and Black fruits. Wonderful balance - very polished with at least 5 to 10 years in front of it. This is why one cellars Penfolds Reds. Your patience is repaid in spades with the finished product…..maturing at glacial pace. My plan is to have the next one in 2024, then 2026, then 2028. — 21 days ago
Great 05 fruit with classic Bordeaux profile.
Starts with the bright, ripe fruits that 05 gave. Blackberries, black raspberries, very, dark cherries, black plum, raspberries, plum, perfect graphite for days, cedar, fresh & slightly dry tobacco, forest floor with dry leaves, perfect, dark spices, dry crushed limestone, dry river stone, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanillin, salted caramel, dry, dark chocolate bar, steep tea with fruit, anise to black licorice, haunting herbaceous notes, saline notes, dry to moist clay, bright, mid to dark florals framed in violets, excellent acidity with amazing tension, beautifully balanced & structured, polished, wire to wire finish that lasts close to two-minutes. So round on the palate. Great with the El Salciciero ribeyes.

Very expressive nose - chocolate, eucalyptus, and deep dark fruit. The palate is med/full and packed with dark complex cabernet flavours. The tannins are still a bit obtrusive but not out of balance with the complex fruit. A baby. — a month ago
Wonderful fruity aroma, rich sweet flavor, hint of spice and cloves, intense mouthfeel. Great on its own or with chocolate. — 2 months ago
1 hour decant (decent chunky/fine sediment). A majestic dark purplish garnet with little signs of a aging. On the nose: big perfumed savory notes of sweet tobacco, potting soil, cedar, dark fruit, smoke, and vanilla. Taste: smooth, soft, velvety, balanced wine with dark plum, cedar, spice, bitter chocolate, tobacco, saline, and a nice long dry finish with some slightly grippy tannins....drinks well, and still time to go. — 3 months ago

Always a solid Sonoma cab. Some anise and dark fruit, dark chocolate and anise. Slight bit of dill and vanilla. Drinks young, this could go for a bit longer. Good strong tannins but smooth enough to balance my prime rib. — 12 days ago
