Domaine Julien Cruchandeau

Domaine Julien Cruchandeau

Crémant de Bourgogne Brut Rosé Blend

Nose has ripe red raspberries, sliced lime, dehydrated cherries and rising dough.

Palate has ripe cherries, dried raspberry, light salinity with a nice acid on the finish.

(NV/2018 Fruit)

The newer vintage arrived last fall (2020) and it's finally warm enough outside to really appreciate drinking it!

The pros say to@e to drink the 2008’s. This may last a few more years but I think it is peaking/plateauing

Domaine Julien Cruchandeau

Hameau de Blagny Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2016

Wow. Awesome.

Nose is iodine. Mineral. As this opens you get controlled richness.

Palate is controlled richness. Lemon zest. Dense. Mineral. Wonderful.

Some green apple skin as it opens.

An hour in this is the real deal. Elegantly rich. Dense. Blind would guess grand cru. Wow. This is sick. Effing sick.

Another great version of this Bouzeron. Lime zest and minerals on the nose. Super clean and fresh. Terrific palate. Has a lovely balance between richness and freshness. Textured and deep. Awesome purity, depth and structure. Love the combo of richness allied with freshness. Decent length. But what a mid palate. — 7 hours ago

Château Branaire (Duluc-Ducru)

Duluc de Branaire-Ducru Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

Tonight's wine I have opened the 2010 Chateâu Branaire-Ducru Duluc de Branaire-Ducru.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, game, eucalyptus, chocolate and earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, plum sauce, black currant, dried herbs, spice and earth.

This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + fine grippy tannins that leads to a long dark fruit earthy finish. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. We are almost to the end of the first week in June and the weekend is upon us. Please enjoy the rest of the week and have a great weekend. Stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

@Ron R I think Saint-Julien is such an underrated and overlooked appellation in Bordeaux. Because they don't have a First Growth I think is a big reasonnthey are overlooked, but it still has a lot to offer.

I agree, @Daniel P. Drake. And I hope people continue to overlook them. They are typically soft and graceful.

@Daniel P. Drake @Ron R In most vintages Leoville las Cases would be First Growth quality or at least knocking on the door.

Château Du Glana

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

If I could pick only one wine, I would turn to the left bank Bordeaux. Here is an example of why: clean, dry, vibrant, intriguing, mineral, elegant yet very present and a phenomenal lingering finish. This beautiful wine from Saint Julien ha it’s typical softer well rounded tannins, dark red fruit of currant, red berry and perhaps dark pie cherry. Loved it and could stop sipping it. — 6 days ago

Always a favorite and it smokes in 19. Nose starts out shy and buttery. Some minerals peeking out. But all in all one smells the density but also senses it’s holding back. But that palate brings it. Electric, retesting, mineral and deep. Some apple fruit and also some citrus but the texture, freshness and mineral complexity tell the story here. Terrific length. Best since 14. A brilliant version of this. — 7 hours ago

Château Lalande-Borie

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

39 years old - alive and kicking. There still plenty of fruit left, but it’s dominated by tertiary flavors. Graphite, leather, foray floor. Even at this age this has plenty of life left. — 17 days ago
