Not dissimilar to the 2008, the 2010 Viña Gravonia leaps out of the glass with a heady, intoxicating aroma of clementine, honey and smoke. And as with the 2008, the palate is a similarly rich and oxidative medley, tannic and bone-dry, with a finish that goes on for minutes. Literally: you are reminded of the wine’s presence long after your sip by a creamy, vanilla-infused aftertaste that lures you into taking another.
God, I love this wine (and, to be frank, all of those that María López de Heredia makes). It’s too young now, but that doesn’t matter. Enjoyed from a Riedel Cabernet glass with Serrano ham. This showed best (by some way) on the third night, even after a double decant on the first. For the first two nights it felt like something was being held back. It is thus imperative that these wines are decanted for some hours prior to drinking.
Once again, an incredible drinking experience. — 6 days ago
Lovely mostly dry white with complex and crisp flavors. — 9 days ago
Despite being a cool low-rated vintage with light wines in the region, Lopez de Heredia delivers a sumptuous rich but elegant wine. Clear ruby in color; nose is extraordinarily floral from a nice oak profile, and with notes of small ripe red berries, pepper, and coffee; light bodied at 13% alcohol but strangely enough mouth filling with high acidity and a long finish. Super elegant! — 2 days ago
Thought provoking white Rioja that dazzles with chalk, salty seashells, citrus, chamomile, and acacia. Elegant, precise, and structured. This wine gives one a lot to think about.
A great pairing with pasta al limone and asparagus. — 7 days ago
Incredible with a buttered potato foam dish that is amazing — 19 days ago
Waxy yellow fruits. A whiff of verbena. A nice salty/savory element. Admirable in its understatement and in not overreaching with excessive extraction, oak aging, etc. Peciña wines consistently over-deliver. — a month ago
What a beauty! Love what some age did to this Verdejo - golden honey color, generous tropical fruit accented w/citrus & some salinity & leesy, musky notes... very pleasant crisp clean invigorating tho fattened up a bit w/age. Still very sturdy acidic structure yielding long smooth finish. — a month ago
Un vino BBB. Recomendado! — 7 days ago
Very good. Not as complex as the best: smooth, earthy, dry tannins and finish. A win for both of us — 20 days ago
