Meursault Chardonnay 2021

2021 vintage. Part of a portfolio tasting through 25 white/red Burgs. Some aggressive, frontal oak that mellows out a bit as it goes down. Medium/medium-heavy body. For village swill, this covers the bases quite nicely. 9.29.25 — a month ago

La Marginale Saumur-Champigny Cabernet Franc 2022

Really an excellent cab franc. Have had stuff from Thierry Germain before but not this bottling. Perfect with a variety of Syrian dishes at Damas in Montreal. Bright, restrained fruit, excellent acid. Nice finish. — 6 months ago

Sans Soufre Cornas Syrah 2000

En magnum. WotN. Standing above giants. Nose of post-hike sweatshirt and posies flower garden. Unreal mid-palate, funneled finish. 25 years, no sulfur. — a month ago

Les Chevalières Meursault Chardonnay 2018

9.0

Over the hill. Not undrinkable, but not as intended. Tough to describe and better with food.

Revising up it’s getting better or I’m assimilating to it. Might need like a 3hr decant :)

Would lean towards the decant and the 55-60 degree range to maximize.

Les Mémoires Saumur-Champigny Cabernet Franc 2018

Lyle Fass
9.6

Red currants, smoke, herbs, with laser like precision. Palate is energetic, sappy and so dense, but wow that energy. Unreal freshness and acidity. Outrageous length and complexity. — 6 months ago
