Thank you so much to Holly at The Whitby for sharing this pick! Very pleasant to talk with and a wonderfully versatile palate.
I received for Xmas one of those nice sunlight alarm clocks that goes off with chirping birds in the morning and weirdly that’s what I thought of when I took the first sip of this. Acidic but not in a way that makes you want to throw it out the window. A nice little wake up call (but for the evening! not the morning) with just a nice lil fruity kick to make it pleasant for sipping.
A reminder that I’d really like to try more orange wines for the sake of simply Understanding. — 6 years ago
Saline, nutty, and fruity. It tastes like if you throw peaches in a Fino Sherry. Really cool. — 8 years ago
2013 vintage in 2018 - wonderful! — 8 years ago
"Throwback Wine" or "Contemplative"... at times Deiss serves its purpose of being just so darn delicious (and Uber traditional) that we call it throwback (because it's so easy it throw it back!) but then you can spend hours with a bottle (or more) just reveling in its endless array of flavors, aromas, textures. Wow. What a wine. With AA's perfect roast Chicken. — 9 years ago

Like I said I was riding the Rioja Express over The Holidays and while OK this isn't technically a Rioja and it's a Garnacha I'll throw it in the "I really liked it" category. Deep blackberry with solid wood but I think it's not quite ready yet. I'd buy it and keep it for 2 more years and let the tannins calm down a bit. We had it with the ribeye that we served on New Year's Day and everybody thought it was a good Garnacha but would definitely improve with a little more time. — 10 years ago
2019 vintage. Classical and elegant for Bordeaux yet slightly less tannic than expected for St. Estèphe. Medium body. Less cherry involved than with the 2018 vintage. Drop in now or throw it in the cellar. Either way, tastes like a winner. Property has stepped up their game in the last few vintages. — 3 years ago
Healthy medium ruby. Pomerol-like aromas of redcurrant, iron, tobacco and mocha torrefaction. Wonderfully pliant, fleshy and full, showing less complexity in the early going than the 2010 version but more obvious sweetness to its berry, mineral and floral flavors. This big, ripe, seamless wine boasts excellent vinosity. The very long, rising finish features ripe, granular tannins and lingering notes of mocha, dried flowers and tobacco. I'd love to throw this into a blind tasting of 2009 Pomerols. (14.1% alcohol; all French oak, 90% new) (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, July 2019) — 7 years ago
16.1% alc.
A typical Turley from their "higher octane days" under Ehren Jordan (I think Tegan (current winemaker) is pulling ripeness levels down a bit these days) this is showing nice classic Zin spiciness on the nose and very ripe fruit, sweetness/glycerin + some VA on the palate.
For a wine/style that was probably not intended to be cellared it is holding up nicely at age 12 and actually gained in the glass after 60+ min.
I would opt to drink up (or for fun hold for 30 more years and throw it in blind with 2003 Burgundies/2009 CNDP).

Tried this again, about a year later. Time proved well. The vines of Lilian-Ladouys are found a stone's throw from the Graves of Cos d'Estournel and the Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. Purple, with inky tones. Aromas of black and blue fruit, smoky notes and soft spice. Palate displays black and blue fruits with toasty oak flavors, full body with round tannins. Finish ends with earthy mineral tones. — 9 years ago
Don’t let the deep purple color throw you off, this wine is low in tannin, bright
and light on its feet. Teran is the (biotype?) of Refosco grown in Slovenia’s Carso on limestone and iron-rich terrarossa. Dried cherries, herbs, dried leaves, red earth. Very food friendly wine, worked with both a flatiron steak and Calabrian fried chicken. — 6 years ago
Tasted at Venture Cafe event courtesy of BW 4/27/17. Shockingly good for MA sparkler, who knew! Golden hew in color and nutty Sherry notes due to age and balanced palette with good length. Savory notes. Would be great to throw in a blind tasting! — 9 years ago
Beautiful gold color with nice bubbles. I accidentally left it open in the refrigerator and was ready to throw it out the next day. To my surprise it was still very bubbly and tasted great. Dry and excellent for a mimosa or three. — 10 years ago
