I’ve come to realize that I probably cellar many of these Napa “cults” too long and rather should enjoy them for their exuberance earlier.
So to my palate this is a notch below the 2010-vintage which I guess I’ll have to check in on again sooner than later.... — 5 days ago
As unique as the proprietor himself.
Some dusty tannins in the finish tells me this is not going to improve with further aging so I would suggest to drink and ENJOY (preferably with food) over the next 2 years. — 5 days ago
While certainly a very good wine I’m not anywhere close to the (initial) 99pts bestowed by one famous critic.
Two years ago I gave this 94pts.
Today it’s a 93 as the baby fat has diminished and is starting to reveal a finish more built on wood tannins (from expensive French barrels) than the seductive fruitiness that I associate with Merlot.
