Sonoma Cut

Sandlands

Sonoma County Trousseau 2022

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days; delicious throughout but best on Day 2 (at least to my palate). The 2022 pours a bright yellow color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of orchard fruit, a combo of stone fruits and citrus: canned peaches, lemons, honeysuckle, beeswax and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry but the power and quality of the fruit almost give the impression of being off-dry. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and sapid. I wouldn’t really call myself much of a Sémillon guy but this is really a special wine. I think if I had given it even more time, it would have shown even more complexity. This wine was dense. Too bad there was only one single barrel produced. I feel fortunate to have been offered a single bottle. If ever offered more, I will take what I can get. Drink now through 2032. — 3 hours ago

Three Valleys Sonoma County Zinfandel Blend 2019

Very pretty color of ruby with medium intensity and a wide reddish rim.

Pretty nose with nice complexity.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate and complex.

Showing red and black fruits with wood, light licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco and herbs.

Nice finish with soft tannins and cherries.

This 6 year old Zinfandel based Red blend from Sonoma County is drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next few years.

Elegant and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and soft with a nice mouthfeel. Showing nice complexity at this point.

Wine Enthusiasts 90 points. Wine Spectator 93 points.

Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine.

A blend of 73% Zinfandel, 13% Petite Sirah, 10% Carignan, 3% Mataro and 1% Alicante Bouschet.

Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Pale yellow with pleasing aromas of citrus and tropical fruits, adding in spice and some biscuit notes. On the palate complex palate of flavors, fresh fruit, pineapple, lemon, grapefruit, peaches and Asian pears. Slight earthiness with a smooth and creamy well balanced finish ending with a gentle yeasty character. Very nice! Consistent quality! Will age well! — 11 days ago

Unfiltered Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2018

Have held onto a six pack of these for several years but it’s not been long enough…super sparkly, like it’s a ‘24. Despite decanting two hours! Love the Rafanelli but needs a lot of age. — 7 days ago

Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend 2018

2018. Probably my favorite Ridge Zinfandel that I’ve had. Could be that I found it in Delta Junction and wasn’t expecting it to be this delicious, or that it paired great with our homemade chicken parmigiana. — 6 days ago
