Dark color for a Girard and a very deep and serious nose. Extremely high toned. Mixed bright mid season rainer cherries with ultra ripe morellos as well. Beautiful deep wet earth notes. Layered and very deep. Really gets deep into the nasal cavity. Just ethereal. Palate is ripe, elegant and super juicy, with terrific fruit. Gorgeous mid to late season cherries. Bright and juicy. Amazing balance and freshness. Complex and ripe. Just terrific — 8 days ago
This was so hedonistic for me, but within the realm of balance. The oak, lees integration, alcohol, and ripe tannin made for elixir that went straight to the pleasure center of my brain. Honey covered and grilled yellow peach, distilled honeysuckle, lavender, candied pear and Rainer cherry, crushed stones, orange peel, marzipan. So ripe and yet the full ML treatment worked so well. The phenolic Viognier bite was so suave and plush. — a month ago
Celebrating giving myself my first haircut. With beardtrimmers. Anyway. This is delicious. Nose of yeast, red fruits, Rainer cherry, saline and some hint of caramel. Awesome. Palate is so elegant and lithe with lovely cherry fruit and some citrus as well. Brilliant mousse and so juicy yet elegant and caressing. Finished with rainer cherry skin and loads of minerals. Very pretty. Nice persistence. — 3 months ago
Meyer lemon, rainer cherries, white cherries, beautiful evocative perfumed minerality, lime, rock quarry dust. Beautiful wine, palate is 90% mineral, 10% fruit. Hints of apricot. Hint of cherry, grippy, fruit pith, balanced, so pure, so clean. Nose is so complex with air. Insane. What a showing. Hint of secondary. Tangerine comes out on the palate. Best showing of Domberg 15.
After 8 hours of air gorgeous cracked pink peppercorns, lemon zest, superb minerality. Concentrated and dense with licking a rock type minerality. — 25 days ago
Perfume. Wow. Stoner. Tiny black cherries, earthy, so clean, so precise, heavenly nose, ethereal. Stuff dreams are made of. Concentrated, complex, so elegant with good power, grip and definition and brilliant sweet fruit. Balanced and so pure. Nose picks up red cherry, mid season rainer cherries, black fruits, elegant and deep, huge structure and acids, needs 45 minutes, fruit is so sappy and young. Compact, pure and super clean. Long meandering finish and fruit sticks and clings to your palate like nothing else. Sappy. So long. Bright. Terrific and pure. Sappy. Long. Mineral finish. Acid is so good.
After many hours this has blossomed, deep rose petals, fresh violets and loads of minerals. But also a bit muted than before. Palate is typical 18 beastiness with massive fruit and even more massive minerals. Black and red fruits. Sweet strawberry as well. Needs 5 years. It’s all there. Very concentrated and deep. — a month ago
You know when people wear caption shirts and the word matches their cool factor so much you can’t even be mad about the self-aggrandizing? This bitch is so good I can’t be mad it’s got Keep on the label. And that’s not even what they meant when they chose the name. Psh.
Stanks so good like linen and earth, cedar, ripe berries and lingonberry, Vietnamese cinnamon, and a little greenness. Maybe green garlic or scallion? Those fucking fresh wild onion wildflowers, that’s it.
Tastes like the way I want to feel every day of summer but all year round when I’m listening to chill music in a park and have decent summer abs, but also fun at parties. Like, “ugh she’s so cool but I want to be her friend.” Blueberries, overripe Rainer cherries, tart, smash in your hand and stain ‘em bings, and a berry and stone fruit cobbler.
If you let it rest on your tongue it bites with a little puckerface, but I’m down for the sassy friendship.
This is gonna be a ridiculous bottle in a year. — 4 months ago
Quite intriguing, not a style of winemaking I reach for often, but an example of it done well. Minimal extraction and no SO2 with the allure and charm this has can be quite difficult. It’s a little skanky upon first opening, but after a night in the bottle it cleaned up considerably, the brett and VA melted into the wine a little more and its muddled melange of red fruit and earth became apparent. Crushed rainer cherry, decaying strawberries, rhubarb compote, white pepper, sweaty brett. I like blurring the lines between light red and rosé, and the wine worked well with roast chicken w/ spices and poblano mashers night one and fared well with tomato/avocado salad and grilled sardines the next night. That versatility at the table was impressive. — 10 days ago
Photos of the D&S Lounge taken at night with all the candles on my friends iPhone 11. Not there yet...waiting for a 5G phone. Our weekend oasis!
Ruinart one of our favorite n/v Rosé Champange’s. A great way to start any night.
The fruits are always ruby & rich. Black cherries, strawberries, Rainer cherries, tangerine, grapefruit with pith, watermelon, dry yeast, baguette crust, grey volcanics, granular chalk, saline with red flowers, red & pink roses. Lively acidity. Excellent balance and a smartly polished long finish. — 2 months ago
