Medium gold . Quite rich and decadent on the nose with buttered popcorn , light toasty hints , lemon confit , orange rind , hints of chalk underneath . There is a light nuttiness , too so certainly showing some age . On the palate this has good intensity and grip , slightly advanced perhaps (certainly older than the Chevalier) , with buttered toast , touch of caramel and lemon rind , hint of bitterness on the palate . Quite high bracing acidity and enough freshness on the finish . I would drink this now and over the next few years , though there may be fresher bottles out there . Re released from the domaine in 2019, with wax capsule and Diam cork. — 5 months ago

Great color in the decanter... medium gold with an enticing perfume. Notes of sweet Meyer lemon, apricot, gravel stone, tan clay, some mint, a little ginger and some sweet marzipan. Has an exotic and slightly musty (desirable) funk. Huge weight with great fruit and solid acidity in the mouth. Decanted for 2 hours before drinking. Awesome juice! Light gold. Looks young. Took 5 hours to open up and show its stuff. In hour 6 this was cruising. Saline and sea shells, wispy lemon fruit, some honey, some white stone. The guesses from the fellas were 2002 Rav Clos and 1996 Rav Valmur. Shows how these properly stored aged Raveneaus can age effortlessly. — 6 years ago

Light reddish in color with medium intensity.

Fruity nose and medium in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.

Showing raspberries, fresh cherries, light tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, earth, and chocolate notes.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Still young, but already easy drinking and very approachable. Rich and powerful, elegant and nicely balanced. Complex and entertaining.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years.

A nice sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food.

100% Grenache grapes from 100 year old vines, were aged for 18 months in French oak barrels and concrete vats. A small production of less than 3,500 bottles.

Tasted blind. Medium deep garnet ruby and medium garnet ruby rim . Quite cool and restrained , again lots of grafite and mineral , dark fruits . This is quite deep and dark spicy cassis , blackberry and sea spray , saline . Quite dense and robust on the palate again , lots of fine but ripe tannins. Very long , dense , cassis , cedar grafite saline finish . This is a complete and great example of 2005 , great balance and enormous length , the longest of all on show here. Drinkable now , but surely it’s best days are in the future , wait another 5 -10 years , will last well a further 20 - 25 if not more . The apex of 2005 ? For me this had to be the Latour , and an archetypal example of Latour no less . 1st place and the gold medal . — 6 months ago

Paler colour than the 76 , medium old gold colour . Quite a lot of bubbles still. This shows much more linear and mineral , quite chalky on the nose and palate but has enough fresh lemon tinged fruits to cover the bones . This is fresher and younger on the palate than the 76 . Long more focused on the finish, higher acidity . This is perfect now and over the next 5-10 years I would imagine . Very much alive and vivid for a Champagne of this age. — 3 years ago

This had the highest concentration of bubbles in any champagne that I have tried. New oak Chardonnay is added following second fermentation. Very interesting - good, but not worth the price IMO. — 5 years ago

Medium gold, heavy in the glass. Awesome aged Raveneau nose. Notes of citrus, kimmeridgian white stone and light colored dirt, some honey, some spice. Great mouth feel, with acidity that powered up over 4-5 hours. Awesome with some angel hair pasta and shrimp, looking out over the Kohala Coast. — 6 years ago

More or less the same aspect as the Pucelles, medium gold in colour . A lot more reserved and younger on the nose , more linear and mineral , seashell, light lemon and some white flowers . This is discreet , at least on the nose , on the palate however this is intense but linear and focused , with a touch of lemon oil , but mostly chalky mineral , seashell notes , long vibrant length . Really fresh and vital though there is good mouthfeel , just a hint of toastiness on the finish . Long and fine , fresh and still young . From now and over the next 5- 10 years . Also a late release from the domaine , with wax capsule and Diam cork. — 5 months ago

I guess 02 Leflaive Combettes. We were all surprised with the reveal as a few of us have had this bottle a dozen times or more and we didn’t guess it.
