Taken to Silver Apricot in the Village. Medium gold color, viscous in the glass like motor oil. Great nose. Notes of apricot, citrus, white flower, wet stone, vanilla, lemon crème and tan spice. Rich and luscious in the mouth. Sneaky acidity. Really good. Nearing the end of a great long drinking window.

Great color in the decanter... medium gold with an enticing perfume. Notes of sweet Meyer lemon, apricot, gravel stone, tan clay, some mint, a little ginger and some sweet marzipan. Has an exotic and slightly musty (desirable) funk. Huge weight with great fruit and solid acidity in the mouth. Decanted for 2 hours before drinking. Awesome juice! If you Google “why should I age white burgundy?”, an image of this 35 year old bottle should be shown...

Deep yellow gold, heavy in the glass. Great leesy old white burg nose. . Notes of sweet lemon, apricot cardamom spice, more lemon peel and some river stone. Rich in the mouth. Tons of structure and acidity. Needed 5 hrs of air to really come on.

Had to open this after the 92 Verget Montrachet the night before pushing me this way. Deep yellow gold color from bottle with a high fill. Nose suggests immediately this is the real deal. Notes of apricot, lemon, clay soil and some brown spice. Incredible impact in the mouth. Lucious fruit battling fine grain acidity that makes your face flush. This always performs and is one of my all time fave white burgs.

From a great looking bottle with a high fill. Almost medium gold color. Heavy weight. Like oil in the glass. Amazing nose right out of the gate. Notes of lemon, white flower, brown spice and a little mint. With air it adds a nice tone of ripe apricot and some ginger. Huge richness in the mouth. Great acidity, powerful. Over 5 hours it evolves and gets more magical. Reinforces the 86 BdM CC is one of my favorite all time white burgs

On to the white burg course… when I opened this 5 hours before guests arrived, the first whiff caused a smile and I told my wife, “this is why you age white burg!” What an amazing nose right from the get-go. Straw to medium gold color, bright and heavy in the glass. High-pitched nose with notes of meyer lemon, cardamom, kiwi, tan spice, gravel stone and almond paste. Palate staining acidity in the mouth. So much energy for a 35+ year old Chardonnay. I’ve had this many times in the past, and tonight it might just have been at its best! (Bday 3 of 12)

Perfect condition btl opened for 5 hrs. Light yellow gold. Nose has lemon, almond paste, stone. Rich and glycerol in the mouth. Really nice fine grain acidity and very long finish. Great wine.

An intriguing wine adventure this evening. Bought a few years ago as an auction bargain. Cork still mostly intact but slightly moist sides and crust on top, beneath capsule. Dark golden hue and surprising viscosity, reminiscent of a botrytis wine in appearance. But absolutely no sweetness here. Aromas of pear, freshly cut green vegetable, beeswax. Quite savoury palate, perhaps candied lemon and honey but sweetness completely absent. Drying finish. Almost certainly not the best example of this vintage, but still in surprisingly decent shape and a very interesting experience.
