As with previous tastings, the nose comes across as compressed. Palate displays butterscotch, caramel and unusually for this producer. a hint of wet paper. Mid palate is dense and weighty with moderate sweetness and acidity. Nice citrus fruit profile with a hint of pears. Good, but I consider this bottle to be an outlier. — 2 years ago

Great pumpkin amber coloring with a decidedly orange hued pate. Lacy trim drops hearts and tiny pumpkins. Plenty of pumpkin on the nose accented by caramel apple and acorn squash. Cinnamon sticks allspice, mace and cloves dominate the palate, with cedar and oak forming the fiddle in the middle. Apple cider tangy on the finish. Just an intense and interesting Florida offering from Wesley Chapel. Fall gold,

Popped and poured; no formal notes. Tsapournakis is, apparently, Cabernet Franc (or some clone of it) that has been grown in Velvento for a long time. Not surprisingly, this had Right Bank Bordeaux sensibilities. There was a mix of red and dark fruits, purple flowers, organic earth, tobacco and some baking spices. There was perhaps just a touch of Brett too. The structure was firm, in the medium+ category and the finish was long. This was lovely with baked lamb in paper. — 3 years ago

Mid Lemon in colour. A 10 year old GG from the Rheinhessen - not a hint of TDN (Kerosene/Petrol notes in aged Riesling). Just been reading a research paper on TDN from the Australian Wine Research Institute. Definitely sunshine to the extent of sunburnt grapes is a big factor. Also a fact I wasn’t aware of that cork allows TDN to release more than with a screw cap. This GG had a cork, although personally I would prefer a screw cap particularly with a Riesling. This Wittmann showed peach and mineral - also white flowers ( Daisies, Barb thought). Enough acid to keep things lively and delicious - some herbs. Enough fruit richness and sweetness to almost convince you that it is off dry but it is actually 13% ABV. An excellent dry German Riesling worthy of the Grosses Gewachs classification. A very high score of 19/20 from Michael Schmidt. — 5 years ago

This incredibly unique semi-carbonated Lambrusco is all about Red Delicious apples. Pretty crimson murky red with a tinge of copper on the brim. It’s completely dry with a bitter note reminiscent of apple skin. Tart cranberries and spiced cherry flavors formulate into a Dr. Pepper and nutmeg elixir. So unusual and so perfect for this time of year.

And more surprises - an odd cone shaped knobless Champagne cork that requires a corkscrew. It comes wrapped in a personal paper note from the winemaker about wine quality. — 8 years ago

Intense aroma, almost stings my nose! Aromas and flavors of charcoal, prune, lead, carbon paper, smoke, vanilla, and leather. Acid is med + still for this vintage, which is 10 years old right now.
