It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Very fruity on the nose with black currants, blackberries, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, cola, Indian spices, pencil lead, light alcohol and black pepper.

Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black plums, ripe cherries, spices, cedar, licorice, peppercorn, chocolates, vanilla, espresso, cola and light herbs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins, spices and cherries.

This delicious 5-year-old Napa Cabernet is drinking very nicely now. Nicely balanced with good structure. Complex and entertaining. Rich and elegant.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is very approachable right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime. Gets more complex as it opens up.

The nose really blossoms after 3 hours, with lots of cedar, chocolate and cola notes.

Will continue to age nicely over the next 10 years. Would be nice to visit it again in 5 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

Really good by itself as a sipping wine, and good with food too. I paired it with meats, crackers and cheeses. Paired very nicely with the French Blue cheese.

A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. Aged for 19 months in (55% new) French Oak barrels. Only 7,200 bottles made.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Medium lemon with aromas of nice ripe stone and tropical fruits with floral spice notes. Sourced from 40+ year-old vines, on the palate flavors of apple, peach and pineapple fruit flavors with a nice dollop of citrus and toasty oak. Jarvis has always been such a unique producer with its incredible underground facility and fascinating lineup of wines. Their Finch Hollow Chardonnays (this one and the Unfiltered version) are outrageously expensive, but they sure know how to deliver on flavor profile.

My notes here are actually quite similar to the 2015 I opened last year, but everything is a touch more restrained. Normally quite rich with expensive oak usage, this seems nicely balanced…it’s almost fresh in profile. Sweet lemon cream alongside marzipan and sea breeze aromatically. From a phenolic standpoint, it’s close to some of the Aubert offerings with its powerful texture. Finishes with a surprising amount of honeysuckle, caramel dipped apple, and honeycrisp. This seems to be built for a bit longer aging compared to the 2015. I’ll be curious to see how the 2018 is. — 3 years ago

Dry and fruit forward on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, black plums, tobacco, cedar, licorice, vanilla, spices, chocolates, herbs, light earth and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is starting to drink very nicely now. Elegant and rich.

Fruit forward with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel. A good sipping wine. Balanced and easy drinking.

Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Has ‏good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime.

A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 1% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels for 20 months. Unfined and unfiltered.

14.8% alcohol by volume.

We had the 2017 Vintage on 3/1-2-24. Medium Garnett in color. Black cherry and cinnamon on the bouquet. Black cherry, black raspberry and cardamom on the palate. Some oak and earth as well. Medium bodied. Unmistakable California Pinot Noir. Very good. — 9 months ago

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

This is a delicious Syrah from Walla Walla Valley in Washington State. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Spicy and rich.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime, when tannins show up. Gets earthier as it opens up with bitter vegetables and tar.

Even smoother after 2 hours of airtime. I did not decant it and left it in the bottle to open up.
