Barolo Nebbiolo 2012

Double-decanted several hours prior to dinner and subsequently enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2012 Classico pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with ripe notes of red fruit: cherry cordial, candied nuts, red flowers, some leather, rich wood and some warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannins and high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A very good, albeit modern expression of Barolo from a solar vintage. Personally, I find pre-modernist Pio Cesare more exciting. Thanks Andy! Drink now with patience and through 2042. — 2 hours ago

This some great barolo right there. Rose petals, tar, cherry, almond, a bit of heat too. This is super inviting. The palate is long, acid driven, with lovely cherry notes all along and a lively mouthfeel. There are some almond and earthy notes too. Then comes the excitement, a gigantic drying tannic wall that comes in and disrupts completely a mouthfeel that will now show fruit, umami and that drying layer all over a long, long,long finish. — 4 days ago

Mid crimson in colour. More a drink now style of Barolo - only 10 years old - no need to wait 20 years for this Barolo. Red fruited - raspberry and cherry. Soft tannins. Great with home made pasta. Will probably have my last one in 12 months. — 25 days ago

Nice Barolo with lots of limestone showing minerality and brightness. Still a little tight after 11 years, but it’s fantastic with a nice piece of beef. Floral on the nose with juicy choke cherry, leather, unsweetened coco, tobacco, raspberry preserves, and crushed blueberries on the palate. — 2 days ago

Barolo Nebbiolo 2019

Opened too young; lovely and exceptionally made wine. Brickish red/brown. I let decant for a loooong time. Lots of cranberry and red fruit, some herbs, clay, faint cedar and tobacco. The acidity was med-high, but the tannins really softened out with aeration. I'd say this is still developing flavors and will be 95+ in a decade. — 14 hours ago

A beautiful shock of garnet, this thin and clear Barolo is lovely, but a little more of a bite than I’d hope for this vintage. The aftertaste lingers nicely (with a light woody flavor), but doesn’t have as smooth of a finish as I’d prefer. It’s still a beautiful wine and love that it comes in a 375 ml bottle. — 19 days ago
