On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Our conductors are David Newman and John Williams are leading a diverse program of cinematic works composed by John Williams entitled "Across The Stars: Music Of John Williams". We'll enjoy pieces from Star Wars (various episodes), Harry Potter, E.T., Memoirs of a Geisha and many others. All works to feature the violin virtuoso, Anne-Sophie Mutter, a personal favorite soloist of ours on these hallowed grounds. Mr. Williams has rearranged many of the selections today to better feature Ms. Mutter, an exciting afternoon will lay ahead. 🎼🎻
A nicely aging monopole Chardonnay, loving the lightly oxidized yellow fruits.
Nose has oxidized, yellow apple skin peel, papaya and medium oak more notable today than prior bottles, albeit not distracting but embracing.
Palate has creamy, tropical fruits, over-ripe lemon and light minerality.
Just an exceptional bottle, likely the best of all the 'Clos de Malte' 2011's we've enjoyed to date. — 10 days ago
Strawberries, raspberries, and cherries, deepened and darkened by a little plum and blackberry. Light tannins and medium acidity. This goes well with food, and stood up to spicy black beans with cornbread. — 11 days ago
Great summer red option, slightly chilled — 17 days ago
A one year departed check in since our last bottle.
Nose has buttered pineapple, ripe mango, toasted bread, ripe plantain and white flowers.
Palate has buttery ripe peach, over-ripe pineapple and a touch of flinty minerality. Medium acidity. Overall lacking some concentration that will come together with longer aging.
This wine should be ready for 93-95 points in 2021-23, all the pieces are there, just youthful today.
Decanted ~3 hours. — 10 days ago
I tasted the same vintage (2014) of this wine nearly a year ago and found it to be a good, albeit fairly generic, example or red burgundy. Now, however, this wine is tightly structured and full of herbaceous, gamey aromatics. It never quite reaches the mushroom character associated with burgundy, but there's more than enough to interest the palate regardless. — 9 days ago
From magnum. Clear yellow. Reticent nose, faint aromas of wet stone & tropical fruit. Bright acidity, medium plus. Fresh, full bodied, and mouth coating with minerals, peach, lemon zest, and loamy earth on the palate. Excellent. — 17 days ago
a beautiful Coteaux Bourguignons. well built, well assembled. Light and clear wine, for the daily, associating Gamay for the fruit and Pinot Noir for the seat. Very good value for money. To drink refreshed to 12-13 degree to bring out the fruit. pay attention to the descent of the bottle because we almost forget that there is alcohol, it is drunk like fruit juice. — 13 days ago
