Wonderful nose of spicey oak and intense minerality. Saline. Rock quarry vibes. Lemon pith lemon flesh with hints of sugar. So complex and appealing. Hint of butter and loads of salinity. Nose is just a wonderful perfume. 9.6 nose. Showing so well. Palate is juicy and tensile with a killer rich texture and ample freshness. Chewy and rocky with great finesse and some green apple fruit. Lacey, juicy and slippery. Amazing purity and balance here and almost finished with some dry tannins. Just awesome. Like a white burgundy liquid drop amuse bouche. — 2 years ago
My first taste of Buffet since January! Right before the end of the year! Gorgeous nose. Mushroom, mint, Sous bois, mineral, very rocky, ripe but measured red cherries. Bright and deeply penetrating nose. Palate is elegant and loaded with lacey ripe and juicy tannins. Sweet fruit and so elegant. Wonderful Champans. Palate staining and sappy finish. So pure. Hit of licorice and darker fruits on the finish. So long. Juicy and so so delicate. Can be drunk young but also has structure to age for 15+ years. What a finish. As this aerates it gets more concentrated and gains depth. Stunning tiny berry sweet fruited intensity. — 4 years ago
Opened at a restaurant half an hour before consumption. At first the nose is a bit reticent, but with time, it opens to lovely aromas of spice and red fruits. The palate is silky and lacey. The acidity still weaving a vibrancy to the flavors. Tannins are perfectly resolved. This is wonderful, mature Gevrey and why we age our wines. And it’s Bachelet! — 2 years ago

Bright, lifted, focused and almost lacey in its feel. Great charm and drinkability and true to place and vintage. Of course the hallmark crisp red fruits followed by a very mineral backbone. There’s lots of sous bois coming through, turned earth, beets, wet leaves, underbrush, forest floor, licorice and flowers. — 4 years ago
Wow. This smoked in 17 and I knew it was going to smoke in 19 for this little known gem of a 1er Cru. Haunting nose of sweet mid season cherry fruit, sous bois, wet earth, desiccated leaves, flowers (violets?), citrus zest and so many other nuances. Just a zany great nose. It’s screaming “I am Volnay” in my nose. Yes my nose. Palate is OMG heaven. Silken, sweet and seductive. Awesome mid season cherry fruit and perfect balance. Haunting finesse and a sphere like roundness and then such freshness that keeps it alive and dancing on your tongue. Such lacey, sweet and delicate tannins. Truly special. Unreal purity. 2019 is the real deal. This is liquid cashmere. It is so finely knit. Will be back in an hour as it opens up. 9.5 for now. — 3 years ago
