Topaz with heavenly streamers stretching for perfection. Creamy head of structured perfection in terms of density and longevity. Perfect sheet of fog lacing falls like a slo-mo curtain to reveal layer two of mountain snows reflecting moonlight. Nose of bananas foster in all its blazing brandy and it’s caramelized olfactory topography; a malt image in sensory sepia to match the mountainscape. Nutmeg, cola and pecan dessert vies with baklava. The palate is a revelation in balance. The expected Belgian malt emerges in contrast to a dappled vanilla and Connecticut tobacco, pecan shell dryness, and chicory coffee before returning to a root tonic sweetness, and cardamom. #kwak #belgianspecialbeers #belgianale #belgianbeer #pauwelkwak #pauwelkwakbrewery #beer #bier #birra #biere #ale #ceveza #cerveja #belgium #belgian — 6 years ago
Delicious though we may have overaged it a bit. — 6 years ago
Mount Peak Winery on top of Mayacamas mountain range where the soil is bright red and rich in Iron, is one of my new favorite wineries in the world. This place was dormant and untouched as a vineyard from 1886 to 1920, when prohabition began. It was called Monte Rosso Vineyard. Today, they still have the same vines and fig trees that have stood the test of the elements and time. They produce three of my new favorite wines: rattlesnake zin, sentinel cab, and gravity - a beautiful blend of petite sirah, cabernet sauvignon, and zinfandel. This is the 2014 Sentinel Cabernet sauvignon! It is worth every bit of the 60 dollars it costs. The nose is the perfect cab - blackberry cobbler just pulled from the oven. The palate is blackberry and dark currants with cedar and oak. There is a buttery hint to it followed by a tingle on the edges of your lips!!!!! The finish is dry leaving you thirsty for more! This is an awesome wine so typical of California cab. What I love the most in a wine can be found here! I highly recommend this to anyone who loves California Cabernet Sauvignon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is better than the last bottle I had! — 8 years ago
The 2006 Bordeaux vintage. The vintage while wasn’t Bordeaux’s best, it certainly wasn’t one of its worst. It had the unenviable position of following a grand 2005 vintage. I think better than 2000, maybe 09 & 10? Jury is still out. The Bordelaise also got greedy and raised their prices from 05. That was a mistake when it came to selling the 2006 vintage and it laid another layer of bad taste in consumers minds.
I really enjoy Pichon Lalande’s style/craft. The 06 is good, not great. In fact, I enjoyed this better w/o the lamb.
The fruits are just ripe. Velvety, rounded M+ tannins. Brambly blackberries, dryish black plum, black cherries, black raspberries, strawberries, some raspberry hues, oak barrel shavings, graphite, dry soils, dry tobacco & leather, dry clay, soft but dark spice, some dry herbs, soft baking spices- clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanillin, light milk chocolate, caramel hues, black tea, anise, some mid berry cola, dry & withering, dark & red flowers, violets, decent, round acidity, balanced, neatly structured/tensioned with an elegant finish that lasts just over 90 seconds and falls on dry earth and soft, dark spice.
Still acceding and has 15 plus yrs of good drinking ahead. Could make a case for rounding up to 93.
Paired w/ Grilled Rack of Lamb, Served with Rosemary Jus, Fondant Potatoes and Steamed Broccoli.

Amazing. Excellent WA fruit creating a stellar wine. — 4 years ago
Intense sundrenched dark berried fruit with a lovely fresh energy, blackberries, blueberries, cassis. dark cherries and peppermint. Very integrated oak profile with a gentle touch of vanilla and sweet tobacco followed by a underlying stony minerality.
Dry palate with a medium + acidity, high tannins with a fine grained qualititave texture, well integrated alcohol in a full body that is balanced by a fresh acidity. Nuanced palate with a good complexity and characters of ripe dark berried fruit, vanilla and sweet licorice that evolves through a solid lenght that falls a bit short from the major league.

Single-barrel scarcity makes this a “must try.” It generates a meaningful event and a good disruption on the palate.
Green apples combine with melon and bright acidity - the signature of a typical SB. Moderately sweet. Serve it to those who appreciate uncommon excellence in wine. Approach the winery for this. — 4 years ago

As I poured this wine the smell of roses hit my nose, with a swish of light-bodied wine in the cup. The palate was quenched with sweet ripe blackberry flavors and juicy zest — 5 years ago

14’ Aubert UV-SL. Wine Nerd Herd virtual tasting. Been fortunate enough to have this wine a dozen times. Unlike the 2013 I had last week, this has seen better days. Still delicious & won’t turn down a glass/bottle. It certainly will drink for many years to come. The 2013 has got another 5/8 years in it.. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase a case of the 13.
Makes points of subtlety & finesse, with touches of cream, smoky oak, apple & pear, light acidity ,falls short towards the end of the glass. Ending with a poached pear & oaky finish. — 6 years ago

Delicious, blend of the kitchen sink, but full bodied and full of flavor, delicious — 8 years ago

I’ve had better Napa Cabernets, but not many. From magnum.
This is elegance refined.
Black currants, black berries, black raspberries, both plums into pudding, black cherries, strawberries, raspberry hues, mid berry cola/licorice, mocha powder, dark chocolate brownies, layered baking spices, soft spices w/ a bit of a punch, caramel, anise to black licorice, dry tobacco & used leather, dry crushed rocks, cedar, dry herbs, touch of eucalyptus, dark withering to candied flowers, grand, round acidity, lush, round, balanced, knitted, elegant, smartly polished finish that last minutes and falls on malt ball, softened earth & spice.
Minus a point for a hint of bandaid on the nose that didn’t affect the palate. — 7 months ago
