Aubert
UV-SL Vineyard Chardonnay
14’ Aubert UV-SL. Wine Nerd Herd virtual tasting. Been fortunate enough to have this wine a dozen times. Unlike the 2013 I had last week, this has seen better days. Still delicious & won’t turn down a glass/bottle. It certainly will drink for many years to come. The 2013 has got another 5/8 years in it.. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase a case of the 13.
Makes points of subtlety & finesse, with touches of cream, smoky oak, apple & pear, light acidity ,falls short towards the end of the glass. Ending with a poached pear & oaky finish.

The man (David) on the right, opened up his home and cellar to a pee-on like me. One of my fave chards was pulled for shits and giggles. If you have never tried this, please do. Uncommon notes of caramel, custard and subtle oak. The palate displays immense depth and clarity. Super weightless finish of honied almonds, kissed by white peach. Utterly sublime.

Dec 2nd, 2018Arguably the best white wine I’ve tasted. Opulent yet restrained. Almost floral on the nose, yet soft and round on the palate. A model of balance and juxtaposed dominance. A super gift from Teresa and @Eric LaMasters

Jul 11th, 2018This is a heavy example. Dense, pure and linear. A wonderful Sonoma expression in every way.
@David L bringing rockstars to the party. Thank you so much 🙏🏾

14’ Aubert UV-SL Chardonnay. Thoroughly enjoy all of Marks single vineyards . If I had to pick a favorite, this would be it. Drink now with a short decanting or wait another year or so.

May 5th, 2018This was a special bottle, as I’ve held on to this to wait until my wife could enjoy after the birth of our daughter. Aubert is our favorite chardonnay producer and each time a bottle is opened, smiles abound! (Background is a small peek in to the amazing nursery my wife decorated).
Our favorite Chardonnay producer does it again (and again, and again, etc). I have no problem enjoying these shortly after release (aside from their Larry Hyde & Sons offering, which has too much acidity for my liking the first year or two), but when you can keep your hands off them for a few years, they can be truly magical. I think 5-7yrs post vintage is the sweet spot. Slightly golden in the glass, with Aubert’s signature lemon cream jumping from the glass alongside honeycomb, salted popcorn kernel, and custard aromatics. Powerful, yet nimble on the palate showing astounding flavor...carmelized brown sugar, roasted nuts and honeysuckle with a savory sea salt component toward the finish. The depth that these Chardonnays show is nothing short of impeccable with everything in balance. I actually think this could be at its peak in the next year, but it’s certainly making a case it’s at its best now!

Outstanding! Lemon cream, honey, and caramel. Zesty with a long finish. I love Aubert Chardonnays (their Pinots are pretty great too), but this is a special bottle. I may be slightly partial to their Lauren wines, but this is stunning.

May 31st, 2020Benchmark.
Key lime pie, poached pear, an incredible floral component with the most chamomile I’ve ever gotten from a wine. Bold balanced and structured. Changed glass to glass. An absolute joy.
