Opened and decanted two hours prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 1997 “Vigneto Brich Ronchi” pours a deep, hazy garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated black and red fruits: Blackberry, Morello cherry, bruised strawberry, dried roses, tar, leather, potting soil, and subtle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. The finish is long and savory. This is in a lovely spot. Drink now through 2027. — 25 days ago

At Moore Brothers tasting of Piemonte with Fung and Mary 1/25/25. Excellent small production white that has a biting texture softened by white fruits and complexity and long finish. — 2 months ago
2018 Vintage: shockingly approachable right out of the gate. The tannins were nicely integrated and there was a richness and “heft” to the palate that reminded me of Chambertin…but this is most certainly Barolo and not Burgundy — 14 days ago
The Rocca family makes Barbaresco wines today from various places, but their Rabajà vineyard is a PRIZED family heirloom, first acquired by Luisa and Francesco’s grandfather in the 1950s. The Nebbiolo vines now have an average age of 50-60 years. 🍇
Here we have the 2007 Bruno Rocca ‘Rabajà’ which is pale garnet in appearance. Nebbiolo can make unexpectedly pale wines, despite having such a strong structure of tannins & acidity that provide runway for aging in the bottle 👀
As a ‘Barbaresco DOCG’, we know this wine was legally required to undergo extensive aging before release, softening tannins and lending complexity through secondary characteristics. 🪵
Indeed, this wine is layered in aromas and flavors including fig, red plum, black cherry, pomegranate, potpourri, rose, dried orange peel, black licorice, sandalwood, vanilla, nutmeg, cardamom, clove, star anise, tobacco, cigar, forest floor, mushroom, and leather. It’s gorgeous and in an amazing place 😍
Cheers to the talented Rocca family and the deliciousness of this Rabajà Nebbiolo expression!!

Blend of indigenous varieties, 85% Garganega & 15% Trebbiano di Soave, from the heart of Soave, the Winery of Leonildo and Teresita Pieropan dates back to 1860. Pale lemon color with green edges and aromas of fresh fruits, floral blossoms and herb spice. On the palate crisp apple and peach with lemon citrus notes. Well balanced with vivid acidity carrying through to a pleasing finish. Screw cap! — 2 months ago

This wine is medium dark garnet in the glass. The nose has a good supply of cherry and raspberry notes, dusted up with earth, tar and anise. The palate has a bit of licorice on it, but mainly serves as a showcase for the red fruit. There are some spicy elements, too. White pepper, nutmeg, and a very light clove sense brighten up the fruit. Tannic structure is firm and acidity refreshing. I had mine with a slow cooker red wine short rib dish, and the pairing was sublime. — 7 days ago
