I really like what Evening Land does in general and their Pinots in particular. Lovely nose with some good cherry. Balanced mouthfeel with good dark red fruit and some nice herby notes. Acid is medium but works well to hold it together and the persistence is good. Really quite enjoyable. — 6 days ago

Christmas Day wine 🎄🎅🏼🍷

Acquired this for two reasons: Flora Springs was my “a-ha” wine 10yrs ago which started my wine journey, and secondly because it’s my sister-in-law’s birth year.

Enjoyed on Christmas Day (with said sister-in-law) and family (the family who introduced me to wine + Flora Springs). Kept the bottle standing for a few days. In the glass, there was bricking but the color was much more vibrant than expected. Aromatically, it showed mushroom and fig, but a good bit of muddled red and black berry fruit, some mint as well. Alive, elegant and bright on the palate with good tannin structure (held strong the two hours it was open). Small hint of tobacco at the finish, but the berry fruit stayed persistent keeping the flavors balanced. Undeniably older Napa (13%) and in great shape. — 2 months ago

After 2 hours in the decanter 2015 Chaillot is showing beautifully, fully open and giving wafting distinctive Allemand aromas with a seductive, mineral inflicted palette and fine grained tannins. It shows the warmth of the vintage but not at all hot, and its liquid rock minerality and floral lift adds a seamless balance to its fruit character. This is going to keep getting better. Medium Ruby color with aromas dark red fruits, black tea and ample floral spice, aged in 20% new French oak for 10 months. On the palate flavors of black cherry, blackberry and plum with tobacco, cedar, black pepper, tea and vanilla spice. Soft fine tannins, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with fruit, herb, spice and earthy wet stone character. Nice! — 2 months ago

Off the cork, I loved. There’s some earth in there, which I loved, but as this opened up, it got a little more floral and a little more sweet… so I pulled back my rating a touch.

Strong fruit upfront with a little spicy clove and firm tannins. Then a floral nose and sweet finish.
