Domaine De Saint Pierre

Pierre Gonon

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2016

Love every vintage of Gonon- the best St. Joseph IMO. So expressive and giving seemingly at any age, as it was here with 2016. My second 2016 in the last few months. Signature inky purple. Deep and intense with great texture showing black fruits, liquid minerals, newly bloomed violets, black olive and hints of cacao. Wonderful concentration, energy and finesse. Stains the palate with a long and assertive finish. Excellent. — 19 days ago

Domaine Grosbot-Barbara

S.A.S Prince Charles-Henri de Lobkowicz St. Pourçain Chardonnay Blend 2016

Lyle Fass

The inimitable Grosbot-Barbara Chardonnay Tressallier St. Pourcain blend. A favorite of mine. Nothing like it. Nose is really terrific. Like elite 1er Cru st. Aubin. Airy, mineral and so aromatically refined. Classy minerals. Really classy. This is such an elite wine. Subtle spice. Hint of framing oak. So good. Balanced and super pure. Juicy, structured, clean and electric. Rich and energetic with a knockout finish. Amazingly precise and deep. Such a brilliant wine. It’s like white burgundy crossed with Anjou Blanc. So good — 4 days ago

Cuvée de Réserve Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Just love the layers of apple, pear, savory saline qualities blended with the right amount of acidity needed to keep things from getting too flabby. — 14 hours ago

You didn’t think this wasn’t making an encore appearance after last weekend did you?

This n/v oxidative leaning styled Champange speaks better to the pairing than the more reductive styled Launois Champagne last weekend. Not that the reductive wasn’t really good. It’s a yin & yang thing that makes this Champagne pairing more suitable.

What a dessert pair!!! Waited too long to make happen. Make sure you do it during high apple season.

Intermixed sips of 2015 White Burgundy doesn’t hurt either.

Château Saint-Pierre

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

Very serious. Big, beef-blood character. Way more extracted style than I recall from the ‘99. Will be interesting to revisit in a decade. Big upside development potential. — 3 days ago

Domaine Julien Cécillon

Babylone Saint-Joseph Syrah 2016

Very dark in color, so surprising when the palate shows more red fruit than anything else. This has some savory character and some acidic structure, but tannins are a bit soft. The nose is cracked pepper and some darker fruit. This is a nice wine, but I’d say it drinks more like a balanced new world offering than a St Joseph. — 6 days ago

Well put, Very destemmed style across the range

Domaine Faury

Saint Joseph Syrah 2018

Too young but rock solid already with great structure and a textbook SJ profile. Jasmine and violets, cured meats, iron and olives, with blueberry and blackberry ooze. I’ll wait a while to open the next bottle and feel confident that it will deserve a higher score. Killer value too. — 15 hours ago
