Calm and almost Sauvignon blanc like with hints of melon and slate. Poised and balanced and delicious. Very unlike the other two. Elegant — a month ago

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

2014 vintage. Decanted with trace of sed. A little flat. Not corked or obviously abused but missing that Chevalier love. Expected (and have always received) more. Maybe in a period of transition. 12.15.23. — 2 months ago

L'Esprit de Chevalier Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Needs a couple hours of air but pretty much ready to go. Very nice. Fresh and bright. some minerality. Getting better with air. Really good burger/sketti wine. — 3 months ago

Ex Arena Brigitte Chevalier Grenache Blend 2021

Really great value in a straightforward, honest, balanced Grenache. It’s grown within the Faugeres appellation but can’t claim the AOC apparently because it’s from deep sandy soils and not schist. No matter! Rayas grows Grenache in sand so there’s great precedent! Nose shows sappy kirsch-y fruit, lots of savory, mineral notes, and a touch of vanilla and spice. Soft and light-footed in the mouth. Quite dry, savory, and saline. Very soft tannin. Alcohol is relatively low at a stated 13.5. Drinking well now, it will certainly last a year or two longer, though I don’t think it will improve. I love wines like this. So food flexible. — 4 months ago
