Graillot Heathcote Syrah 2012

Similar notes to 117 weeks ago although on this occasion it showed better than then. The impression of trying to over finesse wines from an area like Heathcote remains, however it did show meaty and spicy notes and presented as more Northern Rhone in style than Heathcote. This is Alain Graillots Australian venture. — 7 days ago

Les Petits Poiriers Bourgogne Aligoté 2017

Burgundian bargain alert. Nicely polished Aligote, all burnished wood and lemon kurd. Masquerades as a high toned Chardonnay. White flower & subtly pickled yellow plum notes. Village Wine imports at 14$. — 11 days ago

The vintage where Chavy turned up the volume. Awesome nose of apple, spice, mineral, a lanolin like quality, just so pure and expressive. Superbly mineral. With authority. Palate is decadent yet firmly mineral and accented with perfect amounts of sweet oak, just a lovely hit of opulence and tremendous acids. Long, winding and gorgeously mineral finish. Very pure and very good. So delicious. As it airs loads of mineral complexity on the palate and lovely iodine saline hits on the finish. — 21 days ago

Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay 2014

Saturday lunch at home with friends. All tasters very impressed with this Village Bourgogne from the 2014 vintage which was excellent for whites. Great intensity and tension for a village wine. Good minerality. No time for detailed notes. Went well with fresh Tasmanian oysters. — 25 days ago
