Crozes-Hermitage Syrah

An old favorite - haven't had this for a few vintages. Bright red fruits, cracked pepper, resin, sage, dried herbs, medium bodied with grainy tannins. Very consistent every year. Delicious and rustic in a good way.

(Not my photo). Nice crowd pleaser and perfect QPR on the list. But 2014 is way too young! Opened up a bit after a decant and time in the glass, settling in with black olives for dayzzzzz.

A little more tannic tonight, but it might just be me and a lack of food!

That's the jam right there. I wanna try some of this with some age. So elegant.

Bright, juicy Syrah, light and perfumed, white pepper, some grip on the finish, fun stuff

Balsamic notes, pine. Red fruit driven, intelligent use of oak. Elegant, long

Graillot has changed my perception of Crozes-Hermitage permanently, though I won't forget those that I tried before that were insipid, weak examples. This shows everything I love in Syrah from the peppery, meaty and floral nose down to the palate of medium+ body and acidity, with finely firm tannin that should mellow more with age as this is barely 2 years old.

If you don't know Syrah or feel like you have not "gotten it" yet this is your huckleberry!

Concrete fermented, 100% whole cluster, mix of 1-3 year old barrels, 30 year old vines. Pure fruit, a bit of underripe(?) green/menthol. Lacked a bit of weight in the middle. Way better at hour 40 than hour 1.

Fresh and bright. Red fruit, spice, olive and pepper. Integrated tannins. Very nice expression of Syrah and good qpr.
