This vintage is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Bright pale gold color. Aromas of citrus, tropical and green orchard fruit, white flowers and fresh herbs. Flavors of mango, grapefruit, gooseberry, lemon and nectarine fruit along with spent yeast (lees aging?) and those fresh leafy herbs. Lovely mineral note on the long and refreshing finish. Medium-plus body and a soft creamy (oak aging) texture. Crisp acidity and a high level of tension. Quite ripe and fruit forward but very well balanced. Delectable has like seven different versions of this wine in its ID function, which dilutes people’s ratings and impressions. Bummer. Dense color with a little bricking at the rim. Love the classic Pessac nose: earthy, cured tobacco verging on something vaguely vegetal, dark plummy fruit. Deep on the palate. Coats the mouth with rich, earthy flavors and deep fruit. Lots of tannin still but the flavor density does a pretty good job overriding it. Will definitely age. I clearly opened it too early in its development. — 23 days ago

A little blocky and rough initially. Needed an hour or two to come together. Then the nose started showing elegant black cherry and cassis fruit, smoky gravel tones, and a little dry underbrush. It softened in the mouth too. The tannins are quite present and clingy, but receding under the waves of fruit and loads of rich clay-like earthiness. Decent acids, especially for an ‘18. This is nice now with a 90+ minute decant, and likely will improve even more over the next 5 years or so. — 3 months ago
