Cuvée Caroline Graves Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2024

Barrel (Used) aged Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc white blend. Light silver/yellow color with green highlights. Aromas of orchard fruit, white flowers, citrus and a hint of vanilla. Flavors of white peach, gooseberries, lemon/lime, green apple and pineapple fruit with hints of mint and spices. Touch of minerals on the long and crisp finish. Electric acidity and 13% ABV. Slightly creamy texture and a bit of heft from the neutral oak aging. Bold and complex. — 2 months ago

Smooth tannins, and wonderfully dry mouthfeel. Would go great with a steak. Purchased from Whole Foods on sale for $27. I’ll buy more, for sure — 4 years ago

Lieu-Dit Harth Cuvée Caroline Gewurztraminer 2022

Medium golden color. Very expressive aromas of rose petals, honeysuckle, melon, orchids and Asian spices. Flavors of apricot, peaches, tropical fruit, honey and ginger. Nice touches of mandarin orange and minerals on the long and elegant finish. Pleasant viscous/oily texture. Subtle acidity but still very well balanced. So complex, concentrated and bold but also very harmonious. — 7 months ago

Les Caillerets Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2019

In rare halfsie form, ‘19 Caillerets is simply electric, demonstrative, intense and voluminous with superb depth and racy acids driving all its flavors home. Stunning. — a year ago

Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge Pinot Noir 2018

2023/3. Wild, woodsy red fruit, flowers and their stems and a touch of spice on the nose. Translucent stony fruit in the mouth - the acidity feels a little low (due to the vintage) but instead of feeling blowsy it comes across as alkaline - like burgundy made with Contrex. — 3 years ago

Château La Lagune

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

“Many a trip continues long after movement in time and space have ceased.” John Steinbeck

Wine - it can take you places. Last night reminiscing about recent Paris travels so I pulled this beaute to enjoy with a friend. @55Seventy

Chateau La Lagune is located in the appellation of Haut-Medoc. This House was classified as a Third Growth in 1855. It was sold to the Frey family in 2000. The winemaker/owner, Caroline Frey, produced her first vintage in 2004. Her wines are described as having finesse, elegance and harmony. The 2010 is a blend of 55% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot.

Olympe Bourgogne Chitry Blanc Chardonnay 2019

Not normally a Chardonnay fan, but this is lovely. Notes of butter reminiscent of American Oak, but with enough golden apple & white flowers to balance it. Silky with hints of minerality and slate on the mid-palate. Medium acidity. — 10 months ago

Very much my kinda wine. Focused fruit and lithe acidity. Pretty firm tannins, so I went back and bought 3 bottles of the 2016 hoping they integrated somewhat more. — 4 years ago

La Chapelle Hermitage Syrah

2006 vintage. The first vintage for Caroline Frey to be in charge. This shows beautifully now for a wine that was totally underrated by Robert Parker on release. While it may not have the depth and power of the greatest vintages of this iconic wine, this 2006 is a terrific wine in it's own right. Complex nose with spices, black fruit, tobacco and cedar. In the mouth it is beautifully balanced with bright acidity embracing layers of black fruit and spices and velvety tannin. Impressive length too. Abv. 14%. — 4 years ago
