A strong showing, which requires bottle age. First time trying this producer. Nose is structured with notes of mushrooms, moss and coffee.
Tannins are underripe, but add a good framework that will enhance the profile going forward. Leave this for at least another 12 months.
I reduced my rating to 92 pts. Day 2 is not as good as day 1. — 8 days ago
11 years of rest and this has emerged as a real gem. A nose you can smell from feet away of deep black, fruits, cocoa, and earth. The same flavors show in the wine, the fruit is starting to dry a little but there is still good acidity and mild tannins. Finishes with a blast of Rutherford dust. — 20 days ago
Winston Hill is one of my favorite Cabs in Napa. The 2009 is tasting great in 2019, maybe more tobacco and chocolate tones then younger winery. Always like velvet. — 2 days ago
One of my favorites! 1 hour decant. Dark inky purple color.. Black fruit plum, chocolate and floral notes on the nose. Taste—Black/ blueberry fruit, currants, coffee and earthy medium tannins lingering with pencil lead and chocolate-vanilla. Luv the Scarecrow! — 6 days ago
Captivating nose on opening, with rich floral and dark fruit tones wafting from the bottle as soon as I pull the cork. This seems to be at peak for my palate. The tannins lay out a fine blanket on which the black cherry, black raspberry, and faint brown spice notes strut their stuff. There’s a pleasing old leather element in the finish, which just rolls on and on. This was my first Greer and I’m smitten. Fantastic wine. — 11 days ago
13’ Judge Palmer G lll. Ruby red in color. Ready to roll!! The palate is full of black fruits-reveals layers of silky, refined tannins & a firm structure. Providing power with finesse & grace. Drinking now, another decade in it.
This is significantly better then the 2012. — 6 days ago
A great bday celebration for cuz Ryan at Hanna’s in RSM last night. The wine was perfect for a steakhouse dinner. Old world style CB that’s delicious. — 5 days ago
