04’ Joseph Phelps Insignia . Thought it would be close to a pop & pour...NO! Thick tannins that dissipate nicely after a 45 minute decant. Full - bodied.
Color- Dark purple
Nose- Flowers , lavender
Palate- Blackberry , espresso, light oak, nicely integrated acidity.
WOW... Seamless/smooth.
Drinking- now with another 5+? great years. Could possibly be many more. Drinking so nicely, why wait.

Starts jammy as a breakfast at the Lanesborough then unfolds to a very muscular, articulate wine. It's intense, powerful and extremely focused. Anis, cassis, dark berries marmalade. Can't recall the specifics of the vintage but I feel a quite hot one. The 04 insignia feel quite reductive and over ripe for me. Not my taste at all but a good example of an over the top wine.
