Sold out at the estate. They sent to me to be able to get a sense of the style. This is a big wine and doesn’t quite have the level of refinement and delicacy of the 17 and 18. Nose is a bit roasted. Ripe and mineral. But roasted. Roses. Tar. Pleasant and balanced. Palate is big and dense with sweet tannins and lovely density. It’s refined but not at the level of the 17. It’s a very good wine but 17 they took the leap to elite. — a month ago

Super plummy and spice cake type of nose. Tree bark. Citrus spice, nuts, tar, leather, rusted metals, so complex. Awesome. A chewy nose if there ever was one. Some jammy blackberry as well. Palate is super juicy and so concentrated but also refined and super deep. Wow this is impressive. So so good. Amazing velvety tannins and such pure fruit through and through. Big but sweet and juicy tannins backed up by just ridiculous freshness. — 25 days ago

Stunning nose. Spellbinding cherry, licorice, roses, amazing tar, chestnut, wow. Just ridiculous aromas out of the gates. Amazing depth and no hard edges on the aromas. And these usually take 3 hours to get going. It’s like smelling velvet. With just the most vivid cherries. Very very impressive. Haunting. Layered. A 9.7 nose. Wow, what fruit! Just incredible. Dense, layered and so so pure. This just smokes any other 14 I’ve ever had. So refined for a big wine. Unreal fruit and the freshness is remarkable. Insane inner mouth aromas. The clarity here is outrageous! Complex, structured and so juicy. A baby, like a serious baby but this is epic epic Barbaresco. Wow that finish.

After 2-3 hours of air this gets that Giacosa perfectly ethereal strawberry rhubarb cherry delicate scent that is the thing you search for in elite Barbaresco.
