Nice light white for a sunny vacation day in Sorrento! — 3 years ago
Pretty similar colour to the Bartolo , medium deep garnet core , slightly less terracotta at the rim. Porcini mushrooms , sous bois , dried meat , really quite complex. On the palate more mineral , but with a strong meaty , porcini mushroom note , then with blueberry , blackberry . Very fine but present tannins , lovely balanced acidity . Long and really refined . With time in the glass shows well , but will improve over the next 5 -8 years and continue on a further 10 at least — 3 years ago
Nice saturated red, fairly transparent. This is a among the best dolcetto I’ve tried, just behind Bartolo. Lovely texture, nothing forced and nicely in balance. 12.5% abv so nicely moderate. Touch of bramble and a slightly spicey grip at the back end. — 5 years ago
Dark fruit with floral notes. Pronounced yet well integrated tannins, just enough acidity to keep it fresh. Hardly any sediment, no need to decant. Just beginning to show its age. Winemaker’s notes: Bartolo 2013 Merlot. Produced from the grapes in the Mann vineyard, Gilroy, California. Merlot 79%, Petit Verdot 21%. Barrel-aged for 20 months in two-year-old American oak. — 6 years ago

House wine in Quebec. Decent — 3 years ago
Full range Nebbiolo aroma, not as complete as Roagna or Bartolo Mascarello but more powerful. Very polished but there is a sense of restraint unlike many. The structure has a depth, dimension and density that separates it from most other Barolo.. — 5 years ago
Does not have the energy and the range of the 2010 and the completeness of the 2016. It does not have the magic of Bartolo, the class of Oddero, and the clarity and transparency of Roagna, but if you delight in delicate refinement, there is nothing like Cavalotto. — 5 years ago
Is there a better way to complete a night of Barolo than with Chinato? I’ve never even seen a bottle of Bartolo Mascarello’s special elixir and yet, here it is. It’s like a blast of baked fruits, alpine herbs, mint, and holiday spice. A brilliant finish. — 6 years ago
Not as great as previous bottles. Still good though. — 8 months ago
Arpepe is like Valtellina cheat code. Nose is ripe but reigned in and just gorgeous. Stunning ripe mid to late season cherry. Spice, smoke. So elegant and subtle. I know this will unfurl as the night goes on. Insanely pure and complex tar notes. Just so vivid. Beautiful. Palate is stupid wonderful. Sweet, succulent and supple. So fresh. So much energy and preposterous length. My goodness the delicacy here is Bartolo level. Elite roses now on the nose. Overpowering. Sickness. Amazing mouthfeel. Haunting, intense and delicate. Wow. The balance is incredible as is the finesse. Wow. I’m speechless. Maybe best arpepe I’ve ever had. The tannins are just so fine. — 4 years ago

Darker colour than the 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo tried earlier in the week. A little more rustic and less expressive on the palate but remains true to Piedemont with rose and cherry flavours and appealing texture. New grape variety for me which is interesting. Lower price point so accessible entry to the Rinaldi style which I’m currently thinking is similar to Bartolo but a less little less savoury. — 5 years ago
Starting to show tertiary aromas. Very robust tannins still, good acidity. Very coarse sediment, no need to decant. Winemaker’s notes: A rare variety in both Bordeaux and California, Petit Verdot produces rich, dense wines with aromas of cassis and intense flavors of ripe blackberry. Grown in the Mann vineyard in Gilroy California. Petit Verdot 87%, Merlot 13% barrel-aged for 30 months in three-year-old American oak. — 6 years ago
