Castello dei Rampolla
Sammarco Toscana SuperTuscan Blend
Bordeaux’ish. Some green notes from the cab. Intriguing and intellectual for sure. Cacao on the nose with some green peppers and Brambly blackberry. Long. Delicious

Aug 11th, 2018If @Cathy Corison made cab blends in Tuscany, they would be this great. Complex, begging for some age to strut. Gorgeous aromatics after an hour decant, followed by layers of dark and light red berry, asian spice, bridle leather and a hint of mint. Built to last (but no oak or vanilla to speak of), just silky tannins front to back. Outstanding. 20 years to go.

There is no doubt in my mind that this might well be their finest effort so far. 96-97+ Hold until 2025 at least, as it’s structure promises to break very, very slowly. Think glacial pace.
