Castello Dei Rampolla

Castello dei Rampolla

Vigna d'Alceo Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot Blend 2009

Medium ruby color with slightly garnet rim. Dark berry and plum on the nose. Medium acid, tannins are softened but still present. It benefited from decanting. Tastes like dark fruit, dark chocolate, graphite, reminded me of some Bordeaux bottles. — 21 days ago

Vigna D`Alceo Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot 2012

Decanted for several hours, great with food but tannins still very dry without. I’d give it a lot more time to mellow. — 2 years ago

Sangiovese di S. Lucia 2018

Raised in ‘cocciopesto’ which is an amphora kind of barrel based on clay and lime. Very fruit forward, soft tannins. Way better than I expected. Good job!

Sammarco Toscana SuperTuscan Blend 2004

One of the better bottles of this I’ve had, especially with a bit of air. Nice secondary faded red fruit with good acid. Quite nice with turkey and a variety of sides. — 21 days ago

Trebianco di S. Lucia White Blend 2019

Presented as an ‘orange’ wine it has some oxidative character but not too much… hint of petroleum and really well balanced. Blend of trebbiano, chard, traminer, Malvasia, and SB. Biodynamic. I like! — 2 years ago

Lui Toscana Merlot 2018

@Delectable this is the Donna Liu. First vintage of Rampolla’s 100% merlot. Hints of a Pomerol but more fruit forward embedded with some cassis hints. Good tannic backbone which proves the best is yet to come. Castello dei Rampolla rocks! — 4 years ago
