Une robe rouge sang, un nez voyageur sur les fruits noirs sauvages, épices et confiture de prune. En bouche, une belle rondeur avec des tanins plutôt courts. Des notes de pruneaux et chocolat en final. Agréable et délicieux.

Agricola Querciabella

Mongrana Maremma Toscana SuperTuscan Blend 2014

Founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Castiglioni, and now managed and owned by Sebastiano Cossia Castiglionii. Blend of sangiovese, merlot and cabernet, from organic grapes, lovely nose of fruit, floral and spice. On the palate cherry and plum flavors with earthy herb notes, touch of spicy cacao. Fine tannins, good balance, medium finish ending with earthy character. Nice value. — 6 days ago

Rocca di Frassinello

Le Sughere Maremma Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2013

Cherry stem, unsweetened cocoa, and woodsy bark on the nose. And a lot of heat. Oh, and heat on the palate. These later vintages are pushing 15% and they don't hide it. This tastes like a big Syrah that's done a lot of cardio: less flabby, sloppy jam; less skin and bark; less hyper sweet, high sugar, high ABV notes on the nose and palate. But keeps the structure, jab and hook. Less "let's have a pizza with this in my sunny Tuscan garden", and more "brasato in the Italian Alps in early fall". — 12 days ago

Sammarco Toscana SuperTuscan Blend 2013

Jörgen Lindström Carlvik
9.7

I have had the honour of tasting almost every vintage of Sammarco ever made back to the initial vintage (1980). There is no doubt in my mind that this might well be their finest effort so far. 96-97+ Hold until 2025 at least, as it’s structure promises to break very, very slowly. Think glacial pace. — 13 days ago

Earthy and medium bodied, 2 things I’m not fond of in a wine; lots of fruit and smooth which I do like! — 13 days ago

I love this wine, mostly for the “Vino-lok” or, glass cork. Super fun, easily recycled..

Tenuta Degli Dei Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2010

Luxurious cab blend from Chianti. French vanilla oak, structured silky tannins and tons of depth with balance. On a 2 hour decant this wine was outstanding. 94 — 8 days ago

Great structure and manages to provide physiological ripe tannins at fairly low Brix. Juicy acidity creates a slender drinking experience. Through 2025+ — 13 days ago

Tenuta Frescobaldi di Castiglioni Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2014

Despite the cagily not helpful nature of the tech sheet which would not give me the percentages of cab s, Merlot, cab f and sangiovese in this I’m not mad at it. Juicy with good acid and I love a bit of acid. More red fruit than black, and lots of baking spices that have been socializing with olives. I hate olives but these olives had enough character to liven up the mix without being an overwhelming note. What I’m saying is these are the only olives I will ever associate with. Sorry that was a tangent this wine is yummy and on the lighter side of cab blends. — 23 days ago

So does no olives = no northern Rhône? Because that would be ☹️

@Matt Perlman you know, I’ve never had a problem with it in N Rhône! I think it’s just actual olives I hate—maybe more a textural thing than a flavor thing. Cause I do love a good Cornas...so maybe I misspoke about this being the only olive thing I’ll associate with🤔hmmm
