Baby Doll

Château Pontet-Canet

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Who am I argue with 100 point rating from Dunnuck and Wine Advocate? And it is a youthful beauty. I typically find the great vintage of ‘09 approachable earlier than ‘05, also a great Bordeaux year. This is perfectly enjoyable right now but I’ll SAVE at least 6 of these because this baby is a distant runner with lots of legs left. Wow! — 5 months ago

Baby Tui Syrah 2012

This wine need decanting maybe 4 hours. When opened at the beginning rather harsh and bitter muted taste. The the strong red fruit and rhubhart emerge and then more black fruit, eculpytus and earth taste. At the end it become a much better wine — 5 years ago

Penfolds

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2019

Referred to as the “Baby Grange,” blend of 53/47 Cab Sauv & Shiraz, aged for 12 months in American oak, partly in previous-vintage Grange casks. Dark Ruby with aromas of fresh black fruits, complex with sweet spice. On the palate flavors of juicy black cherry and blackberry flavors with notes of cacao, oak and toasty spices, from cooler vintage. Well balanced with acidity, full ripe tannins, long ending with smoky spice, fruit well integrated with oak, drink over next 10 years+, will only get better. Nice! — 5 months ago

You've had quite the whiskey night! I think this is the only Balcones I've had. I remember it tasted young. Maybe I've the red label, too. 🤔

Baby Barbera d'Asti 2021

Deep purple in color; raspberries, cherries and a hint of something floral on the nose; medium acidity; smooth tannins; tastes like wet slate, pomegranate, and strawberry with a long refreshing finish. Really good. This is my first Barbera d' Asti. — 3 years ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 1999

Happy Father's Day 2020 to all; I'm posting pictures of our fur-kids, an independent and somewhat self-interested bunch. Two boys (9) and two girls (3), all rescued from various locations across the East Coast of the US. They generally bring the utmost of joy to my life on a daily basis.

Nose has blackberry jam on moist leather, minor cedar, very light barnyard notes, grilled blackberry,
blueberry compote, brewed dark roasted coffee, wet garden soil, chocolate vines candy and dried orange peel.

Palate has over-ripe blackberry, wet tanned leather, dark chocolate syrup, dehydrated black cherry, chocolate covered blueberry and moist cedar.

Silky smooth, intense finish running +2m, still showing tannins. Expect this bottle to easily hold another 10+ years without concern, in proper storage.

Decanted ~5h. Paired with well salted (in advance), medium-rare, grilled NY strip steaks from my favorite, local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm) and sauted, early season, baby squash in ozro with our garden herbs.

INAUGURAL vintage on this wine, I certainly didn't realize that fact when we bought it in September 2005! This has been in storage for the prior 15 years, just coming back home in January 2020.

Blue Rock

Baby Blue Sonoma Coast Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2023

Pale lemon in color.

Strong nose and medium in body with medium acidity, and a touch of RS on the palate.

Showing lemons, green and red apples, grapefruits, herbs, spices, light earth, light gooseberries and white pepper.

Nice finish with grapefruits and limes.

This is a very tasty Sauvignon Blanc based blend from California. Crisp and refreshing. Tangy and easy drinking. Nicely balanced with nice complexity.

Good by itself or with food.

A blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 16% Sémillon and 9% Viognier.

13.8% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2018

2018 vintage. Last tasted 04.08.23 (9.5), 12.01.22 from a 375ml (9.5) and upon release 06.07.21 (9.5). Decanted and tasted after 45 minutes. Mysterious, dark-fruited and dusty nose. Medium body with excellent darkness of night color. Previous baby-fat overtures approximately 90% gonzo. Slimming down and getting more toned. In a state of transition with undeniable tension that can easily be misconstrued as underperforming. Last wine I tasted that was under this sort of metamorphosis at this level was the 1996 Pichon-Lalande about 1.5 years ago. Such a privilege to experience world-class wines in such a vulnerable moment. Everything is laid out bare/naked before you and you can see where the wine is headed and whether it will be following a trajectory that agrees with you. Definitely unusual to find this occurring in a wine this youthful but the 21st Century is smashing the old 20th Century clay tablets and digitizing. For most wine enthusiasts sampling this wine now, expecting some disappointment in the scoring. For myself, this is currently in the perfect symmetry of past, present and future. Will it show critically better in the future according to the accepted trials, palates, judges and juries? Probably. Will they experience the potential, doubts, insecurities and questions? Doubtful. This kid stays in this exact picture for another 2-4 years imho before striking another pose and I would love to taste this again during that time frame. An above and beyond thank you to FLB (Friday Lunch Bunch) regular Todd. 08.15.25. — a year ago
