Domaine Leflaive

Les Pucelles Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2004

Medium gold . Quite rich and decadent on the nose with buttered popcorn , light toasty hints , lemon confit , orange rind , hints of chalk underneath . There is a light nuttiness , too so certainly showing some age . On the palate this has good intensity and grip , slightly advanced perhaps (certainly older than the Chevalier) , with buttered toast , touch of caramel and lemon rind , hint of bitterness on the palate . Quite high bracing acidity and enough freshness on the finish . I would drink this now and over the next few years , though there may be fresher bottles out there . Re released from the domaine in 2019, with wax capsule and Diam cork. — a day ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Forêt Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2004

My favorite Raveneau vintage and 2004 is absolutely pristine showing everything you could want from the legend—Captivating aromatics, a powerful, voluminous and waxy textured palate that comes with age, racy lemony acids and crystalline minerality. Not only is this brilliant vintage chiseled and laser focused but there is tremendous richness, weight and density. Finish just stays with you. The best showing I’ve had from the Forêt vineyard. — a month ago

Domaine Leflaive

Clavoillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2010

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Clavoillon” pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of green apple, tropical fruit, stone fruit, lemon meringue, white flowers, nuts and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and slightly savory. Again, we were spared from premox; hallelujah! When Leflaive hits, it’s amongst the best in Burgundy. Drink now through 2035. — 14 days ago

I do enjoy their style immensely.

Domaine de L'Arlot

Clos des Forêts St. Georges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2013

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2013 pours a deep, slightly hazy ruby color with a translucent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of strawberry, raspberry, dried roses, sous bois, licorice, dried green herbs, gentle warm spices and limestone minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and full of rustic character. In general, the 2013 vintage in Burgundy is on fire right now. And as far as Domaine de l’Arlot is concerned, I adore these wines and wish I could drink them more often. Drink now through 2038. — 14 days ago
