Crafted from fully destemmed grapes, the elegant and polished 2020 Saint-Joseph totally delivers. Violets, black cherry, raspberry and discrete cedar usher in. Widly complex, expectedly concentrated on the palate, and super intense on the nose. You could even smell it from across the room. Heaps of nuts, dried apricots, curry leaves, and iodine, along with hints of baked lemons, chamomile, yeast, and vinegar. Huge palate weight with enamel-melting acidity. It was rich, salty, spicy, nutty, and savoury. Frankly, the wine was way too young and certainly “too much” to drink alone, but with some 36-month Comte, it was just magical. — 2 months ago

Coming in at the same quality as the 2022, the 2021 Condrieu Chéry is an athletic Viognier, neatly capturing energy and freshness. Banana, apricot, peach, vanilla, blossom and honeysuckle all race out of the glass. Medium-bodied at most, it concludes with solid persistence on the stimulating finale. What I didn’t realize until this week is when I bought this 2013, Sofia & I tasted this with Roger in his cellar before it received the label shown in this post in 2015.

This was $25 on release and it is beautiful tonight as it was last weekend.

Ripe, juicy; blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, purple fruits, blueberries & some dark cherries. Grilled meats, light black pepper, dry galet stones, spice, dry top soil, dry tobacco, used leather, slightly moist volcanic mineral mixed w/ clay, sandalwood, dry & withering dark, red & purple florals, rainfall acidity, a well balanced, nicely structured, beautifully tensioned, balanced, elegant finish that last two-minutes and lands on minerality and florals.
