Schlossberg Grand Cru Riesling 2015

Nice Riesling, nice full texture, rich but not too much, acidity is backward, residual sugar feel is low, a bit of evolution though for such a young Riesling. 89-90

Beau Riesling un brin évolué pour son âge, une belle texture pleine et assez riche, acidité en retrait, pas de sensation de sucre résiduel trop élevée, belle longueur, très bien et content de ne pas avoir trop attendu cette bouteille.

Schlossberg Grand Cru Riesling 2011

Medium lemon with tropical and citrus fruit aromas with spicy perfume notes. Palate shows ripe fruit flavors of peaches, pears, green apples and citrus zest. Medium finish good balance with acidity ending with ripe fruit character and mineral spice. Drink now, no further aging benefit. — 4 months ago

About tine to open this up and drink it, having picked it up on my visit to the estate about 7 years ago. Starting to go to that place that Grüner goes with time, putting on heft and a touch of sweetness as butterscotch pudding and creme anglaise meet candied lemon peel, roiboos and jackfruit (flavor, not smell) in a creamy silky package that says, “come hither.” — 5 months ago

The mineral bomb from Thorle and it does not disappoint. Massively mineral nose. Like a spice bazaar perfume mixed in with mega limestone. Hugely expansive and just gorgeous. The mineral is such a nice perfume. Crunchy, elegant and deep. But also slightly closed. Insane minerality and freshness. So pure. I think right now there is zero fruit on the palate and my score goes up .5 because of that. Just a stunner. The level of crystalline purity on the palate is just stunning. It cleanses the palate. Excellent acidity but the freshness of this wine is what truly stands out. The geekiest Thorle. Just insane. Nose starting to get herbal and groovy. What a vintage 19 is. Buy it all. Man does this slap. Leaves a ridiculous mineral impression on your tongue. Like a mineral fossil. Cusp of 9.4/9.5. — 8 days ago

Tasting with Eddy Faller: some lemon and grapefruit in the nose, already approachable, and right now there is some petrol. Great acidity but the fat around the backbone of this wine makes it great. — 3 months ago

Berg Schlossberg Auslese 2003, to be correct!
Well balanced between sweetness and freshness, matured well and was perfect to drink now but could easily stay in the cellar for many years

First ever Scheurebe from Thorle. Crazy nose of spice. Blackcurrants. Citrus and sugar spices. Mandarin orange. Sage. Unreal fruit purity. Herbals up the wazoo. Palate is rich and unctuous. Wow, good weight with showing its got weight but it’s also super light and nimble. Concentrated but never heavy. Not as complex as Riesling as this is Scheurebe. Rich. Juicy. Energetic and textured. Delicious. — 8 days ago

Domaine Fernand Engel

Praelatenberg de Kintzheim Alsace Grand Cru Riesling 2014

Medium gold in color, the honeyed nose shows apricot, minerally/earthy “petrol” notes, and almost a Semillon-like lanolin note. Rich in the mouth and off-dry (like a German Feinherb), it’s got deep fruit and earth flavors and is quite full-bodied (14%), with a little alcohol showing at the tail end of the finish. Not a delicate-styled Riesling by any stretch. It’s the kind of Riesling that will go better with white meats than anything from river or sea. — 3 months ago

@David L @Dawn E. @Severn Goodwin They’re Bormioli InAlto I bought several years ago (at Marshall’s of all places, I think). I love how they concentrate the nose of a wide range of wines. Unfortunately I’m down to my last 2, which my wife and I use when it’s just us. I’m not sure they’re even produced anymore. I should check (but my wife says we have too many wine glasses already!).

Berg Schlossberg Riesling 2015

Mid Lemon in colour. Peaches, florals and a dried pear character with pronounced minerality. A dry palate (11.5% ABV) - somewhat lean. That minerality showing through and representative of the site. Finishes with pronounced acidity guaranteeing a long life ahead. Riesling specialist Stuart Pigott gave this 97 points - 4000 bottles made. Have the next bottle in around 4 years on its 10th birthday when it will have filled out on the palate with diminished acidity. From the Rheingau. — 4 months ago
