Very light and crisp. Pretty good for a box. — 3 days ago
Excellent bottle - yet frankly I expected more given the 2012 vintage. Just didn’t have the wow factor I usually get w PM. — 7 days ago
This is very young but very delicious. Nose is not giving off much initially but the palate is so velvety, low key rich and so suave. This is so elegant and refined. With gorgeous dark black fruits and fascinating mineral backbone. Nose starts to give smoke, spice and a little wood. Hints of floral and incense. But it will be better with air. It’s multidimensional for sure as well. The depth, concentration and finesse is quite something. Really a step up from Vignolo in 19. Structured to age 5-10 years. Likely needs 2-3. Like a Cornas. Rock star wine. — a month ago
From Peter Lehmann’s VSV Series (Very Special Vineyard). Aromas of Plum Chocolate and Aniseed/Liquorice. Balanced French Oak. The palate is medium to full bodied - with those same descriptors from the nose coming through. Very Barossa from a good vintage. Rich fluid smooth tannins. Medium plus intensity. Only 500 cases made. — 7 days ago
Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🦃🍽
Not in love with the style. Glad it was only $55-$60. We’ll see if it pairs better.
For my palate, there is a lot of funk here. The extraction is much more than I prefer.
The fruits are ruby, ripe, tart, somewhat sour; blackberries, black raspberries, plum, black cherries, blueberries cranberries & pomegranate. Edgy, grey volcanics, moist forest floor, cinnamon to stick, nutmeg, pronounced clove, dark spice, tree sap with bark, dry crushed rocks, eucalyptus, mid herbaceous-sage leafing with fresh, withering & candied florals of; dark, red, purple, blue framed lavender. The acidity is ok. The finish just doesn’t seem right to me. The bottles not corked or off. Just not my style or a very off vintage for them. It also shows elevated alcohol burn.
Can’t say the turkey made it better...did get a little better with my homemade cranberry sauce.
This did come around a bit after nearly 5 hours in the decanter, 9.0 to 9.1. Who thought I should have started decanting it at noon. — 2 days ago
25 year anniversary of this wine. I have been a Peter Franus fan for a long time. This zin is medium ruby, black and white pepper, clove, cedar, red cherry, vanilla on the nose--the wood is definitely pushing through, but not overpowering. On the palate, more blue/black fruit emerges, blackberry mainly. Tannins still pretty dry, alcohol high. I think this can rest even longer but it's great now too. Awesome!!!
