Domaine Coche-Dury (J.F. Coche Dury)

Meursault Chardonnay 2015

Man Coche just puts everyone else to shame. 2015 is just incredible, belying the warmth of the vintage with electric energy, racy acids and a texture that sets it apart, wrapping around the palate with tremendous density and depth to its layers. I want to smell its struck match-lemon custard bouquet all day. Still my favorite white wines along with Raveneau. — 10 days ago

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2005

What a special treat!!! So enthralled by the moment that I forgot to take a photo with the dessert last night. 😜 This wine was stunning! Layered, complex, balanced. Pronounced and concentrated notes of dried apricot, peach preserves, marmalade, orange zest, Meyer lemon peel, citrus blossom, gardenia, cinnamon, cardamom, saffron, lavender honey, and beeswax. It coated the palate with a lasting finish. Again, such an absolute treat!! — a month ago

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Medium straw in color; passionfruit, jasmine, and white peaches on the nose; high acidity; tastes like guava, lemon, pear, and kiwi with a long fruity finish. Nellie likes it and I love it! — 15 days ago

Clos des Briords Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie Melon de Bourgogne 2020

Muscadet doesn’t get much better than this. Lemon zest, tart green apple, tons of wet rock, screaming acidity. So good. — 22 days ago

Sir Winston Churchill Brut Champagne 1996

Great stuff. From mag. Loads of secondary notes. Brioche, dried apricot, a lift of lemon. Lovely freshness and acidity still. Really complex, nutty and vigorous. At a perfect point for my palate and consistently one of the great 96’s — 2 months ago

Comtes de Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne Chardonnay 1996

Happy Valentine’s Day! Continuing our tradition of pulling one of these each year - 11 down, only 1 more to go after this! Reminder that we need to choose a new case of something soon.

This is excellent as always but I’m not sure hits quite the same high note as last year’s bottle. Fine mousse, nose a bit more restrained. Palate is explosive and so deep with wonderful candied caramelized lemon peel. Wonderful pairing with carbonara!

Amador County Chenin Blanc 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Significantly better on Day 2 as the wine completely opened up. The 2021 Amador County pours a pale yellow color with medium+ viscosity and no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is clean; developing with notes of golden apples, quince, lemon verbena, white tree flower, lanolin, and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is dry with super sneaky, high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with a woolly texture. Lovely stuff. Drink now with patience and a lot of air otherwise better after 2026 and should be great through 2035. — 2 days ago

Brut Champagne Blend 2002

This is really something. Gorgeous lemon and minerality. Lovely soft fruit. Resolved but with beautifully balanced acidity. This is in a great place right now with signs of secondary notes but dazzling refined tension. Exceptional — 2 months ago
