Lyle Fass

I drink a lot of White Rhone and that’s been one of my favorite things about the past 9+ years of Fass Selections. I didn’t before and now I realize that I have a passion for them. Nice to find a new wine category late in your wine drinking life one loves. Anyway this is beautiful. Nose is ripe yellow fruits, beeswax, gorgeous compactness and minerals. It’s really refined as well. Palate is ripe, unctuous and juicy but I’ll admit off the bat it’s showing it’s alcohol but it will integrate. It’s only 13% but that’s why you let white Rhone breathe. For the alcohol to integrate. Luscious and juicy. Deep but I’ll be back for when it’s integrated. It’s a solid 9.0 now but the finish, texture and depth suggest this will be wonderful in an hour.

9.0 to 9.2. Alcohol almost fully integrated in 10 minutes. Custardy now. Great length and terrific minerals.

Château Gloria Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

2016 vintage. This is the best Gloria I have ever tasted and quintessential Saint-Julien in this fabulous vintage. Concentrated black fruit, cigar box, floral notes and lead pencil. Margaux meets Pauillac. Powerful and elegant, layered and precise, with juicy acidity and a long mineral finish. Highly recommended. Abv. 13,5%. On release I thought it was superior to its stablemate Saint-Pierre, should try to taste them alongside again. — 17 days ago

Ah, ducru, it’s been too long. Balance. Sheer balance! Coffee and cocoa and lead pencil and jeez, I dunno, it’s great stuff. Comforting. Love it. — 16 days ago

Côtes du Jura Savagnin 2018

Unique. Medium gold color. Initially tastes oxidized but after 20 minutes it opens up nicely. Honey, mango, stone fruit, and pineapple. Medium plus depth with decent acid. Not something I would have frequently but a very nice change of pace. — 7 days ago

Lovely, we have lots of Beychevelle, but mostly mid-90's forward.

I've been told that these can be hit and miss, this particular bottle was a little disjointed but still drinkable. From an owc that also produced bottles that were showing very well — 14 days ago
