Flanerie Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

Purple-red, moderately extracted pigment. Aromas of cranberry and blackberry, later barrel tar emerges. Good acid, mouthfeel, rich, almost oily in texture in a good way, raspberry flavor emerges with time, followed by slight skin astringency and bitterness on finish with butter and blackberry (and later lactic) aftertaste. Just a tad alcoholic for what it is, if one were picky, but with food, what’s not to like here? Also ageable given the tannins — 3 days ago

Stellenbosch Cabernet Franc 2017

MICHAEL COOPER
9.2

The first time I tasted this I wasn’t too impressed. I was expecting a ripe #cabernetfranc from California in my mind. I just tasted it blind among other #cabernetblends and it was one of the best. Deep ruby color with pronounced aromas of black fruit with savoury meaty (Bolognesa, Beef Bourginon) flavors. High fine grained tannins. #southafrica #stellenbosch — 17 days ago

Eidólon Chambourcin Blend 2015

Super aromatic. Smokey dark fruit aromas. Charcoal, blackberries, plum, and eucalyptus on the palate. A great local wine for $16. — 4 days ago

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

9.3

After drinking a few of these in a short period of time I’m getting more of the sense of the “Montebello” house style. This one is more restrained and slightly more austere than the 2010. On the nose, tobacco, cassis and earl grey tea. In the mouth, grippy tannins, dark fruit, black tea, acid. Long finish. Like all MB, needs time, but totally accessible now. Yum. — 12 days ago

91++Everything about this wine screams Great QPR!!!! Balanced dark currants, tertiary tannins, a little cherry pipe tobacco. An affordably decent red wine to have on ✋ — 22 days ago

East Ridge Pinot Noir 2013

I normally like the West Ridge and its more subtle notes over the East Ridge, but this bottle of East Ridge was just fantastic. It was so very deep and yet still energetic and full of soaring, bright clean red fruits, combined with a lovely long finish. My wife and I basically raced each other to the bottom of this bottle. — 17 days ago
