Wow!! Insane nose. Big and I mean massive caramel and intermingled with dead leaves. Gorgeous spice. Wowza spice. Man this is an aroma to be reckoned with. So deep and so expansive and explosive. Apricot. Fresh yet deep and big time hedonistic. Wow, what viscosity. OMG this is so rich and yet so fresh. This has Bergman “scenes from a marriage” tension! Wow. This is tense! From a mini vertical of Monte Bello at a friend’s house. This 08 is easily the most concentrated of the 06, 07, 08. A bit of lemony oak is still yet to integrate on the nose, but all the components are there. Best concentration of the bunch. The fruit is rich and pure and the tannins and acids are really in nice balance. Give this 5 more years. — 9 days ago

Pop and pour. It was a rough day, so perhaps take this note with a grain of salt, wife says this is the best champagne we've had in recent memory, and I would describe this as Chevalier Montrachet with bubbles. On the nose: rich creamy vanilla lemon chiffon, soft honey, hazelnut, perfectly balanced richness and fruit. On the palate: soft mousse, fantastic acidity and richness, lemon, grilled nuts, fantastic density, and a soft, dark, finish. Wow, absolutely spectacular. — 3 days ago

Hayne Vineyard Petite Syrah 2008

At PnP, the wine as a deep dark garnet. Tasted of dark cherries and plum, a touch cocoa or dark chocolate then white pepper and some tannins. After 2 hrs open, the very front had a touch of drag blueberry and the pepper had become more spicy like a black pepper. The oak notes emerged snd the tannic structure was revealed to be long & dense, which I have found to be delicious. A real great wine which I’m glad to have held onto. — a day ago
