#AgedWineTuesday

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Full bodied with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, spices, oak, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, light earth, light vegetables, herbs, tobacco leaf and black pepper.

Medium finish with grippy tannins and raspberries.

This 15 year old, Fifth Growth Bordeaux, is still young and tight. Needs 5 to 10 years in the bottle to mature properly.

I gave it 90 minutes in the decanter, but it probably was not enough.

Robert Parker 96 points. Wine Spectator 92 points.

Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Grippy and rich.

Definitely needs food at this point, like a big piece of steak.

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.

13% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$125.

Vintage 2008 | classic, blackberries, confiture, autumn leaves, chocolate, humus, still tannins, could have had a bit more refinement in my opinion

Christmas-Eve we had family over so it was time to enjoy some nice wine. Out of my wine room I started us out with this gem the 2008 Château Pontet-Canet a beautiful expression of Pauillac on the Left Bank. Totally a reason why I have come to love Bordeaux.

On the nose there is black cherry, red raspberry, black currant, licorice, chocolate, some pencil lead and earth.

The palate is still very expressive with black cherry, raspberry, black currant, green bell pepper, graphite, soft oak notes, cassis and earth.

This is a medium to full bodied wine with a smooth velvety mouthfeel, medium + acidity and medium + polished smooth tannins that lead right into a long dark fruit finish. What a lovely wine this is from the 2008 vintage. Happy Holidays to everyone, enjoy your time off with loved ones and stay safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Pontet Canet tasting and dinner with Alfred Tesseron.

The fruits are ripe, ruby. Blackberries, black raspberries, black plum skin, raspberries & strawberries. Dark rich soils, dark spice, crushed dry rocks, black licorice, tobacco, soft leather, graphite, Great balance fruit and earth. The body is velvety and statin. The structure, length, tension and balance are just coming around. The texture is gorgeous. The acidity is round and excellent. The finish delicious and persists nicely.

I was expecting a tannic bomb but instead a well balanced wine that was deep purple, blueberry and graphite. This wine a was a big hit with the family. Well rounded and hit all the notes.
