Med + concentration but just see through. Ruby core with brick rim. Med intensity and med + complexity on the nose showing mostly classic #leftbank characteristics. However there was a strong paprika aroma that reminded me of #chile #carmenere The fruit was ripe and black and red. Fine structure on the palate with med + tannin and med acid and abv. The notes mimicked what I found on the nose. A supple medium finish. Ripe apple and soft peach notes on the palate, touch of grapefruit zest - could use more acidity for tension but nice floral impression overall. I much prefer the basic Casa Silva #Carmenere over this one. This is deep in color and ripe on the nose and palate, but it has gone too far into wanting to be super silky and super ripe. This is my second time tasting this #vintage of #closapalta from #lapostolle No question that this is a huge wine but it is pretty well balanced for an 11 year old #chilean wine with 15% abv. Firm tannins, medium acid, and strong black, blue, and red fruit. After 3 hours exposed to the air the finish on the wine became bitter. I don't have super high hopes for this wine being fully mature but I am definitely intrigued about what could develop. #chile #colchagua #carmenere — 10 years ago
