Have you tried the 2022 release of the 3drops Sauvignon Blanc yet?

Mr Spittoon and I thoroughly enjoyed it yesterday after we’d finished up in the office.

It’s wonderfully crisp and clean, just how I like my Sauv Blancs.

It’s a touch herbaceous with deliciously juicy notes of fresh lychee, gooseberry and a lick of passionfruit. It has lots of acidity but is well balanced and 100% smashable.

It had me craving a seafood platter and summer weather.

3drops is a wine and olive oil producer from WA’s Great Southern region led by the wonderful Joanne Bradbury aka @joanne3drops. Who kindly sent me this sample bottle (thank you!).

The Great Southern is in fact the largest wine region in Australia spanning 100kms from north to south and 200kms from east to west. Because it’s right down the bottom of WA it’s a lot cooler which is why varieties like Sauvignon Blanc thrive 🥳

California #sauvignonblanc is underrated, IMHO. This $7 example (Costco) proves the point and illustrates the chameleonic nature of this varietal depending on terroir. Fleshy stone fruit, citrus, yellow tropical fruit notes. Lush fruit on palate nicely set against by acidity. — 4 years ago

Delicious #marlborough #sauvignonblanc - Heady grapefruit, passionfruit and an under layer of green herbs on the nose. Upon first unscrewing, (+1 for easy, reliable closures;) noticeable prickle on the tongue suggests perhaps unintentional secondary fermentation. If so, it’s a happy accident as a delicious impression of grapefruit soda envelopes your mouth. Touch of grapefruit pith bitterness on the finish. This highly rated #marlborough #sauvignonblanc proves NZ wines like this need not be one-dimensional high-acid quaffers. Grapefruit, elderflower, grassy and herby aromas on the palate. Yes, there’s a big wave of tart green fruit up front but layers continue on the palate with a bit more luscious concentration than typical for the region. Delicious. — 2 years ago
