Heck of a hosting by @Weston Eidson last night for the City Club wine group. All wines were tasted blind.
My other Co-WOTN. For me, these wines are up there with the best in Napa. The history, the people and the wines are just top shelf. Loved our visit here earlier this year. Having had the ‘13, ‘14 and ‘16, this seems to be the most accessible and certainly more so than the ‘13. This was powerful the entire evening and the fruit stayed ripe and sweet covering the red, blue and black spectrum. Graphite, dark chocolate up front, but it did turn more elegant at the finish showing potpourri and baking spices. Sheer To Kalon power. — 7 years ago
Showing so well for it’s restraint and balance, something not often said of Zinfandel. Baking spice, herbs, raspberry fruit, tannin and acidity in harmony. Quite precise and well made. — 8 years ago
Mainly primary on the nose. Generous. Grapefruit, lemon, lees/yeasty, touch of minerals. Good acidity, finish long with just a hint of round sweetness although RS<3g/L. All from GG sites, mainly Kirchspiel. For the price, an outrageous steel...12.5% alc — 6 years ago
Ripe red and black fruits sweet ripe tannins. It’s a very delicious wine. It seems a little simple though, not much complexity with no tertiary aromas or flavors and the alcohol feeling for me is on the high side. Very good. #redblend #redfruitblackfruit #californiazinfandel #sonomawine — 6 years ago
This was part of a very enjoyable and educational visit with Graeme a couple of weeks back. We tasted the ‘17 from half bottle and it showed impeccable purity and lovely concentration all poised neatly within its classical styling. There is superb complexity too, no doubt leached from the complex soils they’re working with. Cool vineyard and delicious wine - 2017 — 7 years ago

Today I was able to enjoy the 2014 Gaja DaGromis Barolo. 100% Nebbiolo.
On the nose i was a le to get cherry, raspberry, strawberry, roses, spice, dried herbs and dusty earth
On the palate there was abundant red berry fruit, cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, anise, mint, white pepper, clay pot and dusty soil.
The wine is medium to full bodied with a soft mouth feel, medium + acidity and medium + fine tannins that lead to a medium to long fruit filled finish. A well structured and integrated wine that was a pleasure to drink. The weekend is upon us and I wish everyone an enjoyable and safe 3 days. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 7 years ago

Deep purplish ruby red. Lovely nose that needed a little time to open up with notes of violets, olives, blackfruits, and white pepper. Moderate tannins (6/10) and medium plus bodied. Elegant body with some pizzazz with lots of layers and complexity. Notes of baking spices, olive tapenade, anise, cinnamon, blackberries, and dark minerality. Long and extracted finish, definitely from the whole cluster press. Drink till 2023. (91+) — 8 years ago
Excellent @Cathy Corison ! Complex, broad and delicious. Round mid palate, full of luscious black fruit. Great length with - surprisingly savory finish, bordering on olive which belies the ripeness. Simply terrific! — 6 years ago
Dry tobacco leaf and light cedar, black cherry. Notes of fig around a core of persistent but never aggressive tannins. Round and perfectly delineated, @Cathy Corison has made another one for the ages. From magnum this was excellent, will likely improve with 2-3 years. — 6 years ago

Tart green apple, lime, limestone, crisp acidity. Yes. — 7 years ago
