Nahe Medium-Dry Riesling 2009

Seems like old times.

This hasn’t aged really.

Nose: stone fruits.

Palate: lovely stone fruits. Still vibrant. Bravo.

Stromberg Großes Gewächs Riesling 2018

Merry Christmas to all on Delectable! The best drop during our wine squad’s pre-Christmas gathering has to be this masterpiece from Tim Frohlich. Such insane concentration, yet so filigreed and focused. The trademark reduction and vintage's ripeness gave it such an intense jackfruit character. Notes of herbs, spices, and ripe oranges too, as well as hints of mint and white florals. The palate was dense, silky, and straight up powerful, but never heavy - it remained juicy, bright, and saline throughout. And the finish here was just something else. It went on and on, filled with zingy citrus and a smoky, stony minerality. Really impressive stuff here and definitely a worthy contender (vs. Felseneck) for the title of Schafer-Frohlich’s top wine. — 9 months ago

Refreshing, crisp, slightly effervescent, and not too sweet. Would enjoy again if looking for a Riesling — 6 months ago

Schiefergestein Bockenauer Trocken Riesling 2021

Great village wine. Clean, precise nose with herbal and mineral notes. Citrus (mostly like) on the palate. Dry, structured, quite saline. Great mineral texture, good acidity — 10 months ago

Felseneck Großes Gewächs Riesling 2017

Superb wine to start the evening. The nose was surprisingly open, especially for this producer - pineapple, grapefruit, sea breeze, fresh herbs, and white flowers. Stacked and powerful, you can really feel a pressure weighing down on the palate yet in typical Schäfer-Fröhlich manner, the finesse and elegance of the wine is undeniable, courtesy of the piercing acidity, herbaceous-ness, and long salty finish. While it drank well, I do feel it still needs time to shed more baby fat and bring more seamlessness. For such a strong performance, it was surprisingly not the white of the night. — 2 years ago

Vulkangestein Trocken Riesling 2016

Gorgeous green-flecked color. Nose has deep lemon-lime and apple fruit and tons of clean slatey minerals. Deep on the palate, with crisp, mouthwatering fruit competing with stony minerals. Persistent acids propelling it along. At 8 years old still seem very youthful — 5 months ago
