Love this wine but I will admit 2020 is not as strong as other vintages. Nose is lovely with violets, dark cranberries, berry fruit and lots of smoke and minerals. Palate is lush but also had a major mineral spines Good freshness and purity but the heat of 2020 is showing in that it’s not hot but it’s also not as focused as it could be. Maybe air will help.
DAY 3 update: Wow did this need air. Gorgeous purity and freshness and stunning minerality. 9.1 to 9.3. — a year ago

Major league great Chateauneuf . Deep flavors will only get better over next decade — 6 years ago
This is a major league workhorse fastball befitting the modern age; this is a Gini Wijnaldum wine, elegant, robust, & uncompromising in its considerable effort to shape thought, space, and facilitate room to the work. Unsung hero, surprising in its inclination to balance, & delightful. Got all them savories, got them grit, got a streak of badger & delightful acid. Chuffed with this. — 8 years ago
Superb balance of savory, floral and fruity elements, acid and texture! Hitting all those notes. Nose has a hint of petrol and floral character and then the palate is major fruit; yellow raspberries, gooseberry, apple, jasmine, clover honey, hay, custard. Brisk fruit snaps into savory acid and a long finish. And the texture is silky; more weight than many a Mosel Riesling in this price range. So good! — 6 years ago

Light to medium bodied. Aromas of a ripe fruit. Moderately complex palette and decent after taste. Would drink again. — 8 years ago

Just a good wine that’s an empty bottle now. Smooth, red fruit, a bit of tannin in the background. No major tasting notes, just the empty bottle. — 8 years ago

Highball can. Better than the highball served en route from JFK to Haneda actually. Worth repeating. — 10 months ago
the wine was too warm. bad as it influenced my experience. the wine is really good and i know it as this is not my first bottle. leather and oak are at first stage following with read fruits: raspberry and cherry. and the nose!!! — 3 years ago
2019 Cote du Py By far the best Gamay Noir I have tasted in several years. Such a precise expression of Morgon. This aroma shows the perfect combination of deep and inviting cherry plum fruitiness along with the slightest brush pepperiness and subtle meaty/earthy hints. There is no funky Brett in this wine that I can find. Not squeaky clean commercial either. There is no mistaking the pedigree of this vineyard site as well as the deft hand of this legendary producer. The texture is pure pleasure, almost nil tannins (The way I like it), and major length. Woody, brushy (rotundones) are combined with perfectly ripe tree fruit and alluring minerality . For anyone confused about the distinction between Burgundy and Beaujolais this should stand as a model example. Bravo bravo bravo!!! — 4 years ago
Major relief after all the CA Pinot fruit bombs....let open awhile — 6 years ago
Took some major CPR to get this one back. Crazy variations on the nose. Mellowed nicely. Very drinkable although fruit and tannins have waned. A treat for something older than I am! — 7 years ago
one of the finest.
